Imprting from Oz

If I imported a 2nd hand car from Oz what payments would need to be made?

I am assuming VAT + Shipping, anything else?

Also, if it would be unique in the UK (AFAIK), would that make going through the SVA that much harder?

So many questions, probably just a half-baked idea anyway!

You don't say how old it is? If over 10 years old should be easy. Just an MOT on top of the money. If less than 10 years old will need SVA. As a uk resident that will be full SVA. Major pain, wouldn't recommend.

Costs will be cost of car + import duty (10% unless commercial) + shipping + insurance, then add VAT to total.
