Any one know where I can get my hood repaired ??

I've got a 96 Chimera. Took the top off a couple of weeks ago and the plastic rear window split as I folded the hood down.
Some clown suggested trying to glue the split together. Another clown ( me ) tried it and it's made it even worse!

Does anyone know if the plastic window can be replaced or do you have to replace the whole lot ??

Just the window can be replaced, most decent trimmers should do it. Call you ins company as some will pay for it to be done. I did this after work had started (didn't think window cover, er covered it) and they had a list of approved repairers, of course 'my' repairier in South Bucks was not on the approved list. Oh well, you live and learn.

Also, my hood ripped when they took it apart (they have to remove the rear section from the hoop so they can put the material through the sewing machine) ... make sure whoever you pick knows the consequences (new hood and top panel recovering for me - I only paid for the material).

About a year ago member 'straga' posted a recommendation for A R Pound 01462 892704. They apparantly replaced the rear screen for £60 and did a pretty good job. They are in Baldock.

You might be able to do a fancy thread search. It was on the Chimaera forum under the title Happy & Sad.

Cheers, Have spoken to A R Pound ( Very helpfull ) The guy couldn't give me a price there and then but said he will call me back later.

He said that they can definatly do it within the next 2 weeks ....... Perfect.


Also got to say this is the 1st time I've used Pistonheads and I'm definatley a new convert!
