The great EU farm subsidy scheme
Discussion
According to R4 yesterday, farmers are selling off setaside land and the EU subsidies can pay back in 2-3 years. The sample quoted was an outlay of £480 and a return of (IIRC) £280pa - though that is better than most.
Does anyone know how real/realistic this is, and if it's real how does one buy a chunk?
What can be more stable than nitwits in Brussels handing out stupid subsidies?! And even if they stop, I'd still have the land...
I like the idea of being a landwowner :-)
