TVR remote gear change unit problem
Discussion
Hi, I have a Fisher Fury with Vitesse Rover V8, D suffix LT77 5 speed gearbox (the supposedly slightly stronger one with higher 5th gear) and a short gearbox remote unit supplied by a TVR specialist a few years back to the previous owner. It recently became more and more difficult to select 5th gear, and now it is impossible. The gearbox was professionally stripped and rebuilt 500 miles ago, and gear selection is not stiff when cold due to a special synthetic oil being used. However, you have to find the gates quite precisely, and if missed, it is then difficult to select any gears until the car slows enough to select second. The lever seems biased to the left towards reverse, and reluctant to travel far enough to the right for 5th. I removed the top of the transmission tunnel to ensure that the lever wasn't fouling the edge of the cutout.
I have a Haynes Rover V8 manual but the remote unit featured is different. I have pictures of my remote unit that I can e-mail. Could anyone help me to identify the remote unit from pictures please, so that I can find out how to adjust/repair/replace it? There are numbers on it, but I am told that these are only casting numbers.
Thanks for any help. Regards, Paul.
