I had my full service today and other than a couple of discs and pads I need 2 new rear tyres. Think I will go for the Dunlop SP9000 in 225/55/16. Etyres can fit them on my drive for £90 each which sounds reasonable and definately less hassle than mail order. Any other recommendations or is that price bob on? Thanks.

Not being an expert on tyres but isn't a 55 profile abit to 'fat'.

FWIK

245/45/16 = 110.25mm profile
225/50/16 = 112.50mm profile

whereas a

225/55/16 = 123.75mm profile.

wouldn't it be abit to much, aswell as mess up the speedo reading. scratchchin

55 profile is what came on the car as standard.

I just had SP9000's fitted to the front of my Chimaera - not done a lot of miles yet so not pushing it but they seem OK.

Yes for the fronts, that's what I have, 205/55/15 SP9000s.

But Bigboz was talking about rears.

Just had new rears fitted. Had to go for a W rated as no Z's in stock in the SP9000. Pleased with etyres (or rather the local company they used) Sorted a front puncture (for free) and replaced rears in no time at all.
