Its all in the title really. I know that I read it on here recently but having forgotten the figure I also can't find it. So, how many 5 ltr Chimaeras were built ? Thanks.

Just borrowed this from the Chimaera pages:

The TVR Chimaera 500
Of over 6000 TVR Chimaeras built, only around 600 were the 5 litre model. These relatively rare machines can be identified by their purple coloured rocker covers and 'Griffith style' wheels. They are probably the most desirable of the Chimaeras, with levels of performance close to that of the Griffith 500 whilst retaining greater practicality. NB. Sometimes you see adverts for 'TVR Chimaera 500/5.0 HC', all of the 500s are 'HC' so don't pay any extra...

Being pickie, but why is the performance only close, shouldn't it be equal?

Oops - pressed the wrong button.
Anyway - when I was looking for a TVR I had a long conversation with a main dealer who convinced me the Chim was the best choice for me - wanting the ability to tour for weekends and weeks on end with the roof off and still have space to accommodate a wife who takes an outfit for every occasion (and some that never arise) . Oh yes , with gallons of power too.

I tried a griff and a chim from the same dealer. Griff was noticeably firmer but more interesting was that the dealer was considerably more nervous in the griff (as a passenger) than the Chim despite the saucy engine spec of the latter.

Don't forget the weight penalty in the Griff 500 from the gold chain & medallion. Unsprung weight affects handling

Mine is a 500, so that is one of them, with the purple rocker covers and the Griff alloys.

Are you just trying to make mathes easy here or is that actually right only 6000 ever made and 10% being 500's or is there a few more than that???????
