My work laptop died while I was in the field, there is a large amount of data I need recovered, the cost isn't the issue (big companies paying)more that we will get the data back.

Can anyone recommend any companies??

Our company doesn't seem to have a recommended provider. (Given the size is a little shocking TBH)

Is it the hard-disk that's died? If not, you should be able to buy a USB caddy for it, or plug it into a similar spec laptop and recover the data.

www.vogon.co.uk/

are pretty good, they tend to be used in criminal trials so they have a pretty high standard of work and you would be amazed at what they can recover

ETA. noticed they're now part of ontrack

Very good company, use their software for mundane tasks, send it to them for spindle failiures etc..

Before you spend thousands spend £40 on an identical HDD and swap the boards over
