Thanks to the article in 911 & PW I have sold my 968 (boo hoo) and it is being collected tomorrow.

Luckily it is going to a great home.

Out of interest I added up what I have spent on the car since I brought it is July 04 and it came to just over £6K. Total since the car had 44K on the clock (I brought it at 116K) is £15K. This is one of the reasons I am selling the car because the outlay has been too much.

This is a good lesson on how not to buy a Porsche (from ebay) without doing the research and getting it checked. I know "buying on condition" is a well used saying but it says a lot. Just because you buy a low mileage 968 doesnt means that the head wont go or cams wear or flywheel etc etc.

It was on the market for a while wasn't it? Oh well, at least now you can move one. If it makes you feel any better, I spent £8k on mine in 14 months and that didn't include cams!

He means the previous owner spent £9,000 in maintenance/repairs, from 44k through until he bought the car.

6k in 2yrs 8 months - high-ish but not ghastly, surely? is that total running cost including insurance, petrol etc or just repairs? My 968 cab has so far cost me about 1.5-2k per year to run, all in, including cambelt servicing, tyres, petrol and running repairs. I comfort myself with the knowledge that these running costs are offest by depreciation being far less than a more modern car with similar performance.

out of interest, what are you replacing with - (please dont say a 964!! laugh )

You'll be back matey (take no comfort from that platitude - I have been saying that to myself for 18 months and can't spot the arrival of new Pork on the horizon yet. Must stop buying too many mags and spend the money on some metal!). Mine cost £3202.29 or thereabouts in just under three years - petrol was probably another £2k and Insurance was about £4k. Not expensive by any means and I lost £2.1k in depreciation in that time.

Enjoy not having to worry about what goes wrong next for a while!
