Well, for once, I have to agree with Wayne
The replacement for the Can-Am is now being run in, before being practically stripped down and rebuilt with a huge list of modifications. I've had a few offline inquiries as to what was going to replace the Can-Am, so for those who were interested - here you go.
Some pics of the unmolested 'Pony' below. Obviously a different beast from the Ult (and the engine bay needs some serious attention - coming
), but suits my needs perfectly. 500+ 'genuine' horsepower is not far off too....

Indeedy - Brembo calipers and rotors sat in my dining room as I type
All the modifications from here on in are performance related. That's basically an entire suspension replacement, chassis stiffening/lightening, wheels, brakes and engine performance mods.
Stage 1 of the engine performance mods will shoot for about 400hp N/A. Then I'll consider supercharging which will squeeze another 120-150+ ponies under the bonnet.
Hugely capable car and I've been very impressed with the 'stock' performance.
Anyway, I won't clutter the Ultima forum with my ramblings, though obviously the Mustang forum on here has got busier of late
looks good stig!
cant wait to see what stage 2 power mods you go for. there are some VERY nice turbo setups out there for these cars! also Kenne Bell and ProChrager do some pretty neat stuff to.
oh is it the 4.6 or 5.0???? heard the 5.0's (like in the Ford GT)can run over 800bhp on stock internals!
thanks Chris.

It's the 4.6l 3V. The 5.4l is only available for the GT500. You're safe to about 450-500hp on the stock internals with the 4.6 which is ample
You could run to 800hp - for about 1/4 mile

Chris.

Well, at the moment it's competent, but rather soft. The 3-link live axle has been very impressive. I ran live axle on my Seven when racing, but this is a very different animal - far more competent. Great for tail out tomfoolery too
Anyway, once all the suspension/brake mods are done - the car will be completely tranformed.
Performance on the track has yet to be experienced, but I reckon it will hold its own

no mate - but a slow driver in a fast car, will still be slow
As I've said before, I like to drive a car and feel like I'm giving it 10/10ths - rather than knowing the car's far more capable than I am brave and only getting 3/10ths from it
