What would happen if the car is started without the MBE unit in situation?
Would it be dangerous/inadvisable. Or would it not run anyway?
Reason - just taken the wiper switching unit out and the MBE unit to give them a clean and check the connectors etc and being inquisitive, turned the ignition etc on and nearly started her up. Rush of blood to the head, talked myself out of it switched everything off aagin and went in doors...
Any info appreciated.

You'll be lucky if it cranks. Depends if the crank signal runs through ECU.

It did begin to crank coz I went back out to try it after your post...
Got cold feet again and went back in doors; does the MBE control the whole fuelling system?

They shouldn't be hard to find
Going back to your gear box point and of course knowledge; maybe if you knew what a clutch was and how to use it, your car wouldn't be being carted off on the back of a low loader in order that someone who does know what a clucth is and how to use it, can reap the rewards of you f*****g up your gear box...
Couldn't have happened to a nicer more helpful bloke.

Tried to stay out of this but am drawn in. MARCUS what the hell are you doing "cleaning" the connectors of items you have no clue about?.. and then to confess you tried turning the engine over without the MBE out of curiousity is just stupid. If you don't know, leave alone. Blaming Jensena for his gearbox problem as a backlash against his derision of your actions is just childish.
Maybe you should pay someone else to look after your car until you've learned a little about how things work? Or at least learn first, play later.

Marcus, Most Cerbera owners know a thing or two about cars, you have to on a Cerbera, so it seemed pretty obvious that you can't really run the car with the 'Brain' unplugged, so the 'Gearbox' comment was an obviously sarcastic remark, followed by a big smiley.
My second comment, well you did rant on a bit, you asked for it, but that was also followed by a big 'laugh'.
I always try and be helpful on here, and there have been a few times when I have got it wrong - there is always someone on here who knows better than you, thats why it is such a good forum - so I have had my share of put downs, but I take then with a smile, because I have learnt something.
Now chill out and have a few drinks A smile >>

Marcus - for reference. The gearbox is known to chew 3rd and 5th gears. Nothing really to do with clutch control, same as the fingers break on original clutches. Just one of those known weak points.
From your original post, fair play if you feel you wish to play with your electrics, but again these are known to be a troublesome area on TVR's. As mine's working I'm too scared to even touch them
And to be honest, if you throw your toys out the cot on a humourous comment, it might make others think twice about helping you in future, which would be a shame as this forum is the best place I've found for assistance.

First off it was just a simple question. I like you manage things. Just because we go on a course for a few days, the umits/teams we manage do not just shut down, they jaunt along of their own accord just fine. I was just wondering if the Cerbera was completely managed by the MBE unit or whether it would run on a basic routine regardless. If by experimenting a little and I mess things up so what, it's my car and I should know better. I paid for it and I'll hold my hands up and take responsibility - its a car not a person and if it breaks then I'll have had my fingers burnt and hopefully learn a lesson.
I didn't ask for an opinion on my actions, I just asked some questions - some may think dim or stupid even, but then I bow to superior knowledge when shared with courtesy and good intent. If people don't want to help and discuss then why not just keep quiet rather than have a pop. Lots of times on here I think some people's questions are odd, but I don't go around giving sarcastic comments and taking the mick out of them. I do not judge them, because they have a reason to ask and its down to them; if I can help I will if I can't then I'll usually read other replies and learn.
I do have some water ingress into the passenger footwell and noticed that the screws and surrounding holes were a little caked up with rust/crud. I know where all the bits are so took them out to give them a clean/once over to check for any corrosion.
I then plugged it all back together and popped it back behind the carpet.
Its nice of you to get 'drawn in', but it really has been blown out of proportion. The gear box derision was a retaliation aginst two sarcastic/uncalled for comments with second thought smileys at the end. Maybe I should have just put go f**k yourself with a smiley at the end. If your gonna give abuse then expect some back. It would have been alot kinder not to answer at all or to give some constructive words of caution...

Ok so some questions are a bit dim/stupid to some, but it was a question asking for information not opinions on what I was doing. Some constructive caution or words of wisdom would have been gladly received, not a sarcastic comment with a shout in the middle with a derisory mickey take at the end - oh and a smiley to cushion the blow. I've had my Cerbera for nearly three years now and we've been through alot together and I've learnt loads. The guys (and girls) on pistonheads have been brilliant and I've tried to give something back when I can. There are loads of new owners and well aquainted owners on here, some want to get their hands dirty some don't. We shouldn't be judging people on the nature of their questions or the level of their knowledge, just advising them the best we can, when we can, if we can. This forum has proved invaluable to me and I have always received courteous helpful comments. Yours was the first where I've taken a second look and thought hold on that just wasn't necessary.
If you think its good practice to have dig at people or take the mick because they have posted on here and you think that they deserve it as you put it, then maybe you should think about the people that suffer your put downs. I like to help people if I can and yes we do get things wrong, but why do they deserve to be 'put down'. They had a legitimate interest or enquiry and are seeking info from like minded enthusiasts that through the combined knowledge of the masses have heard most or all of it before.
The comment about the lack of knowledge and the fact that it wouldn't be hard to find loads more knowledgeable than myself is probably true, but why belittle people just because they know less than you. We all have varying degrees of knowledge about all different kinds of things, but if we took the mick out of everyone that was new on here or those whose questions were simple etc, then this forum would be a lot poorer and less interesting than it is and always has been.
As an example the guy that asked about the stripes on his Cerb the other day had various comments and pictures, but you just posted a sarcastic comment along the lines of yeah why don't you get a big spoler and wack that on the back as well. He was only asking yes or no as he like myself was just wondering what others though of his idea. He didn't ask for a put down.
Yes the gear box thing was a snipe, but as you know, if you give it you have to take it, and after all their was a smiley at the end with a poking out tongue...
Listen, I like coming on here and will still come on here to ask questions, some quick, some intelligent (maybe) and some probably dim or daft, but if you think that my question is worthless then please just don't put me down, just show your distain by not replying and quietly think to yourself "christ he asks some odd questions".

Yes your right it was just a snipe, a retort to some sarcastic comments and was a little over the top. This is the first time I've felt need to reply in this way, but like they say if you're gonna give it, then you've got to take it, after all there was a smiley at the end of the gear box jibe.
As far as throwing your toys out of the pram, well maybe, but I didn't really find the comments that humorous and have noticed that a certain person on here likes to dish out these little gems as and when they feel that others deserve them and I don't feel its necessary. We come on here for help and to learn from other peoples experiences, not to have the P**s taken out of us.
Sometimes you have to stand up and be counted and say wait a minute I don't have to put up with this sh*t.
I'm on here because I've found it invaluable in my ownership of the Cerb and 99% of everyone on here are fantastic in deed you youself have been one of the most active and supportive menbers on here and your knowledge and help has been enoyed by all on this Cerb forum. But thats the point, you help when you can and you offer constructive caution if you think it helps, you answer questions intelligently and if you don't think that you can help you may give a link etc; but you don't belittle people just because you didn't value your question or because you judged it to be daft.
This has all escalated due to me giving a little back. If JENSENA had kept quiet and thought to himself "what a daft question" and laughed to himself then this post would have died a death ages ago...
I'm off to watch beginners guide to brake calliper painting...
