Removing the clock

The clock in my Griff is a bit mad - can i remove it by getting my hand up behind the glovebox ?

That would depend on how small your hands are......
Putting it back my be tricky , getting the connections back on.

It isnt that difficult to get the dash front out anyway...

I had a duff clock and tried to get my hand up behind the dash but never really managed it.
Like Anthony says though, its not getting the clock out, but reconnecting and putting it back that will be your problem.
Taking the dash off isn't the scary job you think its going to be though. Steering wheel off using the 6 hex head bolts, then follow the instructions in the bible and it comes out relatively easily.

why dont you just undo the two bolts holding the steering column up,there under the dash and let the whole wheel/console drop down enough to get to the two small dash screws.Save scuffing up the wheel hex ones and makes it easier to get to the two dash screws behind the console

Dash does need to come to get the clock in out properly.
