Hi folks,
Another new bod, my apologies, but I need a bit of help.
I have one garage, of small proportion, and am convincing the wife that the way ahead is a wedge or an S. However, I need to know the dimensions of both. And if you could spare the time, maybe views on both of them as to which is the best option.
Also, are there any sites that show pictures of the models?
Many thanks for your help in advance.
Mike.

Goodly few in here
www.tvrwedgepages.co.uk/
From the hand book for a 400
width 68"
lenght 158"
hieght (thought not a problem) 47.5"

No doubt being a wedge section we will all say wedge

I know what you mean about garage size, I bought this house only after the 400 was tried out in its new home.

Don't know dimensions but my 350 'just' slots into a modern standard sized single garage. Wider than I thought (mirrors do not fold back) but you can oversome this by setting yourself some markers at the back of the garage.

The SE style of wedges are 68" wide from door mirror to door mirror. I know this because the entrance to my garage is 69 1/2", so I bought the car !!

I case you wondered, I push the car into the garage, otherwise I would get stuck, due to my fat arse.

Try and get to a local meeting and speak to the owners
www.tvrcc-bristol.co.uk/
As you are in Bristol from your profile
I have no experiance of the S but can recomend a sorted Wedge. The V8 rumble (V8S has it as well) and styling are what keeps me grinning. Don't buy the first one you see (although I did...oops) and ask someone who knows about them if you are going to look at one.
Only draw back for the 400 is the wife can't drive it (too short) although she could drive the 350. As a passenger she uses a cushion.

Non V8 engined Wedges and Ss - you lose that lurvely soundtrack. I'm sure they are fine cars; but there's nothing better than a car with a Rover V8 in it.

350i v V8S; probably down to personal taste.

Big SE v V8S; Hmmm, the Wedge has the noise and performance. Even if you prefer the looks of the S, the big wedges feel so special you may just have to have one.

SEAC v V8S; No contest

BTW - My SEAC fits in the garage no problem even though my Alfa 164 stood no chance.

I really appreciate the replies, I am off to measure the garage.
I have shown both to the wife (cars that is) and she has decided that the wedge is a 'blokes' car and the S is for 'girls' or to put it more truthfully, she doubts if I will fit an S.....
Must admit, I have always been smitten by the wedges. Must have a V8 though.
Thanks again.
Mike.

Can keep it outside, I did for for a while, although the premium was a bit higher.

Tried that with a porsche 944. All it needed was a goldfish. Trouble is, I have 2 cars as 'dayrunners' So really, the TVR would be a weekend / pampermobile.

Also, My wife changed my nickname. Apparently using real names is a bad thing....I dont know...

Leven do a good cover
www.leventechnology.co.uk/
And lots of other bits.

Mine doesn't leak (will take it back one day and get one fitted)

Go on, you know you want to

PS my new (for me) garage is at least 2' narrower and 3' shorter than the old one but how come yours is so small? (no pun intended)

is your garage standard ? My 400 has fitted into all of the garages of houses I have owned / lived in.
Ok, its easier if you take the roof off and climb out, but it goes in.

In my mind, the V8S is an awsome bit of kitt, but the Wedges really are head turners.
Drive both through France, and its the Wedges that generate most interest.
Also, following someone in a Wedge is daunting too for the guy in the front.. that curved bonnet, vast front and gentle rake of the windscreen are, in my mind sinonymous (sp) of Mid 80's sports cars ( Lotus etc ).
The V8S in my mind looks like an MGB on steroids .. too retro for my liking, plus all the ones I have driven, both new and old suffer from axel tramp when you boot them hard. something the wedge has never suffered from.

I know... but a bit of cross posting / defence is sometimes in order!

At the end of the day, it's just good to see another person interested in the marque, IMHO... and I'm sure they'll love whatever they buy...

Ten peneth worth. When I bought my first TVR in '90 I was after a Wedge as it'd been a dream from when I first saw them in the early 80's as a teen. I drove a V6 S and it was okay and IMHO felt a bit more "together/well built" than the mid 80's Wedges and my wife liked it as it was a "pretty car". I asked the factory if they were doing a V8 version - said not then they did it about a year after I bought a Wedge.
The S feels smaller inside and thus feel a bit more nimble to drive IMHO but the presence of the Wedge on the road, the big '80's sports car feel and the noise, particularly on over-run (generally only available on pre-hot wire Wedge V8's) is awsome. IMHO if not going for a Wedge I'd get an early Griff.
Get a Wedge, any one'll do 350, 400, 420/430 or 450 JFDI!

Well I have owned an S.2 and a 350i Wedge! My S.2 I found to be a harsher drive. The trim level was not up to Wedge standards and you need supple knee joints to get into the S.2! I think the S.3 has wider door openings though.
Other things to consider is how the other half takes to it. My one hated the S.2, bursting into tears whenever I took her out in it. She is OK in the Wedge though. Don't ask me why!
Finally the Wedge is more "engineered" it has those nice grease nipples to squirt lube in to stop hinge wear. You try to find an S that isn't suffering from door drop.
Wedges are generally cheaper too.
Then there is the V8...
I think you know what you have to do
