Just had the car back from the MOT and it's failed on emissions with a CO of 1.8. Last years MOT shows a reading of 0.01. I have checked the voltages at the ecu ( pins 4, 23 & 24 ) and don't seem to be getting anything on pin 24 at all. I have proved the wire from the ECU to the lambda plug (offside wheelarch). With a voltage of 0V is it safe to assume that lambda has failed or could somthing else cause this. Just thought I would check in here first before luffing out on new sensor....

Any help much appreciated as always.....

On the basis of the checks you've run, I'd say the sensor is faulty. This should show up as a fault recorded in the ECU (code 44).

Try swapping the lambda sensors over. If the fault moves to the other side, you've found the problem.

Hi James,
Does sound like lambda sensor failure. Where in Essex are you? I have a fault code reader you can use if you want - i'm in Grays.

Thanks JSR,

I've ordered a sensor this morning but I might take you up on your offer if this does not cure the problem...
