Hi Ed

The engine has a poor reputation but it was mostly the early, and more the 4l engines that were nightmares. Your budget puts you into a 2004+ 3.6 T350, which (anecdotally) seem to be more reliable. Though you can always be unlucky with a TVR, sadly, so I would aim to get some sort of warranty.

The previous owners mechanical sympathy may also matter considerably; if they ragged her from cold in front of you I would walk away.

Good luck with the hunt; when they work the Sp6 is a great engine.

Went from Griff' to T350. What a fantastic car to drive, brakes, handling couldn't fault it. However, now have a Chimaera. Miss the looks and drive of T350, but not the worry of ownership that I found. Had some issues with the factory who's incompetence was shocking, which compounded my thoughts that IF something went wrong the outcome could be far from happy. A change of finances at the time saw me back to RV8. Which for the forseable future I'll stay. Hope you get a good one. Don't however be swayed by the beliefs that all the engines problems were solved. Prepare for the worst, that way anything else is a bonus.

Nervy, the way you go through motors, why dont you just set up a Prestige & Sports Car sales business? Probably be cheaper in the long run hehe

Hi ,
I changed from my Chim 450 to a T350C last October, must admit I have had a very small but anyoying problem with an engine sensor, but that was sorted out by the dealership .

Got to admit It's been great since had plenty of driving in all weathers and the engine hasn't missed a beat, just fitted a JP sports exhaust system ,missed the V8 sound.

It's been very reliable and loads of fun,but different again to driving the Chim, although it is faster you have to rev the engine higher, not like the old lazy V8's i'm used too.

The 3.6 engine is not as highly stressed as the 4.0 LTR , that's on the plus side and having driven a few 4.0 ltr versions (Tuscans) there isn't a notable performance difference-(S MODELS EXCLUDED)

GO ON GET ONE YPU WILL ENJOY IT --HONEST!!!!!!!!!!!!
