Who'll admit to greatest speed in 30 zone?

My old man got bagged at 80 in a 30 several years ago. A very dubious 30, even back then they had ones that go for half a mile ahead of the town. Anyway this was before the points system so even though one of his 2 previous speeding convictions was four years old the sheriff still banned him for a month. I remmber my Mum being very p-ed off, saying he now had a criminal record etc.
I got an SP60 (and the grief of court) for 58 in a 30.
Wasn't clearly signed and was the (two laned) slip to a busy dual carriageway (Alrewas on the A38 if anyone's interested), accelerating to join at about 65. I think it must have been plod with a hairdryer (although I didn't see them anywhere).
Duty solicitor said it was a revenue earner, as he dealt with at lease 5-6 people a month on that section.
6 points, big fine (can't remember how much, as 6 years ago) much humble pie.

I'd really like to see the point of view of some one like madcop on this. How fast one does on an open motorway at night is one thing, in a 30 is quite another. Roads are for driving on, for everybody, enjoy the driving, but don't be an utter knob, if you want to endanger yourself do it on a track.

I must admit that I started reading this thread with trepidation as I believe that, of all the speed limits, the 30mph speed limit is the one that sensible drivers should try their hardest to adhere to.
However, I was thinking of residential in-town roads. I wasn't expecting one the posts to refer to a 30 mph dual carriageway. I mean, how nuts is that?
But for a "normal" 30mph zone with side-roads, houses, shops, pedestrians, dogs, children, etc. then I would say that anyone who exceeds that limit by anything other than a small margin should be sent straight back to driving school. It's not big, it's not clever and itis certainly nothing to brag about on a public forum.
