exhaust wrapping tape

Has anybody used any manifold wrapping tape? if so can anyone tell me what the correct heat graded one to buy. the most common seems to be 550c but i have seen it upto 850c. Dont really want to have to use my fire extinguisher if i can help it' and dont want to see my V8S in a pile of ashes. your comments please

I dont know the correct temp rating you would require 550 or 850 but I have referred to this co recently in another thread, see p10 of the cat 1000 deg rated with stainless clips, gotta be better than risking a lower rating even if it's sufficient.

They also do the handy exhaust clamps (same page) and the emergency nipples, handy if the throttle cable goes.

ThermoTec exhaust wrap is rated to over 1000C. You'll never exceed that. The only problems with this are common to all exhaust wraps - they go brittle when they have cured, and the extra exhaust heat can cause problems with corrosion on ordinary mild steel exhausts. I've never had any particular problems with it, but this time around just for the heck of it I'm going the ceramic coating route.
