I think I have solved my cold running/idling problem! The car was running rough while cold as per usual and hardly maintaining an idle. I removed one of the wires from the high temperature switch (at least that’s what the book seems to say it is) and low and behold it was like a miracle! The car went up to 1000rpm idle. I jumped in the car and took it for a spin. It ran great! And even when it got up to normal operating temperature it seemed to run better (and quite a bit faster). The turbo boost gauge even hit about .6 bar once (another issue I have been having, the turbo is coming off next week). Of course my fun was spoiled after a about 10 minutes when my throttle cable decided to snap (not the end of the world but irritating none the less).

My question is: what the heck is this nasty little HTS and do I really need it? The car seems to run MUCH better when it is disconnected. I’m guessing that it must be shot as it has been making my car run very rough.

Any advise is appreciated as always.

Cheers,

Mark

If it's shot, replace it.

Lotus didn't put it there to look nice.
