I think i might have a slow one as it takes at least 1.5 cups of coffee to download about 1 gig of pics

Is this normal

If not any recommendations for a decent one

Make sure it's plugged into a USB2 port

Failing that it might be your card..which one?

Mine was fifteen quid from Dixons, so probably a tenner from anywhere sensible. 30 seconds for a 1 gig card, maybe 45.

As Martin said - check USB version and drivers, it shouldn't be taking that long.

Yup - you've probably got a USB1 version. I found the same and went out and bought another.

Sandisk now do a Firewire 800 one. You need their latest cards to get the best out of it, but it should be quicker with most cards.

Nope of of the new funny little slots that has no cards yet that i know of

though i might get radical and try plugging in the camera instead of a card reader

As to the firewire 800 one Way too fast i wouldn't even have time to make the coffee

Why not just plug the camera straight into the laptop?
