TVR TASMIN 200s "FHC" Fixed Head Coupe.

Comes with 12 Old MOT's, some history & bills inc TVR delivery note.

Fully Comprehensive Insurance only £180 per year

This is a 200 Tasmin, which is shorter than the standard Tasmin cars.

Full spaceframe chassis (1.5-inch diameter, 14 gauge steel tube) with all indendant coil-spring suspension

This car was part of a limited run, and only 16 were ever made. Making this an exceptionally rare car.

This car is a standard 200s FHC, the details are below.

The chassis and running gear are in excellent order. The body is in very straight and original.

The car has been shown at various TVR events all over the country and pictures of it have

been in the owners club magazine.

ENGINE :

Ford Pinto 2Ltr with 170bhp @ the wheels. ( Car weighing only 971kg ).

Weber carburettor on ali inlet manifold, with a K & N performance induction kit.

Tuneable ECOTEK induction valve.

Gas flowed and ported head with racing inlet valves.

Race spec BURTON blf 40/41 camshaft and big valves, fitted with competition valve springs.

Forged high compression pistons & balanced steel con rods.

Steel crank.

Ali high capacity sump and oil cooler, with high volume oil pump & braided hoses.

5 speed gearbox. ( Rare ).

Stainless steel exhaust with 4 branch manifold and polished tail pipe.

Id hardly call that standard considering the standard 200 Tasmin produced about 97bhp hehe

Id say go have a look, its a rare beast and most of them have been smashed to bits now! From what Ive heard, you will have a hoot as the handling is reputed to be crisp and a right laugh thumbup

971 Kg??!! Yeah right. More like 1100.

The Cosworth-engined 200 is probably Steve Evans. Imagine if TVR had done that 20 years ago, things could have been a lot different...

Yeah I think thats the guy...the installation is absolutely fantastic....better than original!!

If the one on Ebay is 971kgs he must have stripped it somewhat

130kg weightloss is some achievment in an already lightweight car hehe

I think the Pinto pushes out about 105BHP as standard and I suspect as Ian says the car weighs around 1100KG unless it's been lightened in some way. 200BHP from a normally aspirated 2.0L does seem high but not impossible. I think I'd want to drive it first though as it may have nothing below 3-4000K and be difficult at tickover. That's one of the reasons I went for the Cosworth Turbo. I'd done a couple of power hikes on the standard engine but to be honest I wasn't very impressed. It seems to me that you are just playing around with the power to the detriment of the every day driveability. With the turbo you get a very drivable car with the power if you want it.

The Pinto bottom end is a great design and 500BHP from a 2.0L is not uncommon. Getting the power is easy it's keeping the thing together that costs the money.

IMHO the car looks good, there are a few things that are not standard, but improve the car (like the 5 speed Gearbox). If you wanted the car as standard I don't think it would be too difficult to put it back and you could probably sell the non-standard bits on for more money.

I'm tempted myself at the sort of money it's currently fetching but I think her indoors may be carving more than the Sunday Roast if I embark on another project before I get the house sorted out. Would make a great everyday car.

Thats my old car. Bought it when i was 16, the engine came from an old rally car, i had twin 40's webbers on it when i had it, it was supposedly about 160bhp. Now its only got 1 on i cant see it being anywhere near 170bhp.
I sold the car to a guy in Pwllheli about 7 years ago after it got vandalised outside my workshop, the windows got smashed etc, the insurance company paid me out £4000 for the car.
It was a very straight car- i did the mods to the front (smooth bumber and smaller round front lights etc) It looked superb and was very loud.
It would set car alarms off every morning down my street (neighbours loved me) hehe
Performance wise- it wasn't to impressive to be honest, the engine had to be revved very hard to release the power. Which made it quiet a hard car to drive- more suitable to the track.
Im really glad to see its still alive- good luck to the next owner,

Graham

3000,- as reserve price......that´s too high for such a car.....i would better buy a 350 for that.

Good lookin car, but i agree not worth £3000 in the current market.

Although, it cost considerably more than that when i built it, I spent thousands on the engine, bodywork and wheels.

Incase your wondering why i used a pinto and didn't just go out and buy a 350 etc. At the time i could not insure anything bigger- i seem to remember gettin a quote aged 17 for a 2.8 it was 4800 fire and theft he he

@danny:

it always costs more to "repair/restore" a car than buying a better one from the beginning... both of my 280 didnt cost more than 2000,- and are chassiswise perfect (never welded, original powdercoating, never painted, nor waxoyled or undersealed) and the rest is in good nick, too.
