Cool, i was always fascinated by those things, Ive never played one but the games all seemed to be super expensive and 90% beat 'em ups.

not that expensive to get into nowadays, mine was £100 including controller, power cables, AV cables and a game.

most of the old games are sub-£50 now anyway.

newer ones are still SCARY expensive (well over £100)

Neo Geo was out in 1989/1990.

in short, no it wasnt worth the money. Not because it wasnt good, but because it was SO MUCH MONEY!

£200 a game is just crazy, even if compared the the Megadrive the games looked incredible. The quality of 2D artwork wasnt matched until the Sega Saturn / Playstation came out.

then again, its a bit like asking if its "worth it" to buy a £1400 gaming PC with dual SLI graphics cards etc just to have games look a bit better. for some people, it is....

personally i think the kind of 2D artwork they came up with is as good as the latest 3D eye-candy...

no, there are quite a lot about mate!

ebay is a good bet, but i saw mine in the window of Gamestation - was walking along after having had a couple of pints and thought "ill have that, if they'll knock £50 of the sticker price" and they did.

going rate seems to be £100-150.

Easy to get started on, but not easy to get all of them games for. My mate has all the games released apart from one I think, and he is sitting on a pretty tidy sum of money there so he is now scared to play them.
