I just bought my first proper bike to get round town quicker and use less fuel amongst other things.

I have a car which I need to use for lugging stuff around and have to park in a residents permit zone.

Basically I am only allowed 1 permit which can have any amount of vehicles on it, swapping from car to car or car to bike whenever I park.... Only thing is it is an A5 sized lump. The council won't issue a bike permit (small and free) as I have a car permit. I said "where the hell do you want me to put it on a bike, being A5 and paper - not going to stand up much to the rain or fit!!". They said basically, "it might get stolen and will take a long time to replace". Basically they don't care.

So, I have to find a way to attach an A5 permit to my bike when I park and put it in my car again.

I used the old "enviromental" line saying "I'm just trying to do my bit" but they say "oh, bikes can be more polluting than cars" WTF!!!!!

Getting sick of this Labour Government and Labour Council I have to deal with. What a bunch of paper pushing idiots!

Easy one, simply smile at them, and report the A5 paper stolen. Once a week. Until they give up and issue you a bike permit.

Their rules, but our loopholes...
