Doubtless been done to death but need a new set of tyres for my 90 964C4. I can run to replacing all four so I was hoping for a bit of "...well if you're starting from scratch" type trye advice.
Haven't had it that long and has different front vs. back so am keen to change them ASAP. Fronts are Michelin Pilot 205/50/ZR17, Rears are Bridgestone S02 255/40/ZR17. It's had a RUF suspension kit put on it a little while back (though I don't have the full spec) and is a bit harsh in the rear Not so it shakes out your fillings mind

Is it right that the profiles should be different? (50 for the Pilots, 40 for the Bridgestones)

What would be the general consensus? Use is 95% road with the occasional track excursion. Are the big 4 (Michelin, Bridgestone, Pirelli, Conti) pretty much the same?

Thanks for your help

You're running 17" wheels, so the normal sizes are 205/50x17 front and 255/40x17 rear - different profile ratios front and back because of the different widths, to keep the rolling radius the same.

I'm running ContiSport 2s for general use, on my 3rd set and like them. For track use I have a set of toyo R888s. By all accounts, the Bridgestones SO2 is good (not the SO2A) if you can still get hold of them.
