Looking for some pics of Griffs with SP wheels fitted, had a look at them a few months back for both the Griff & the Chim, unfortunatley out of stock and found somthing else to spend my hard earned on. Looking again now, consdering doing some hill climbing in the Griff and want to upgrade the brakes, have always been less than impressed after the stoppers on the Cerb & Tuscan. My Chim is better with groved/drilled disks and Greenstuff pads but still not great. I have a local rally place that can do a custom job with a set of Willwoods but I wil be very restricted on disc size with 15" rims hence the wheel swap, that plus im due for some rear tyres anyway. So far I have only seen them on a pic of a silver car on here somwhere.

I have fitted 300mm willwood discs and I still have 15 inch fronts, how big do you want your brakes to be?
Have you got 4 or 6 pot callipers?
I have the 4 pot superlites, bought them from here:

It is a squeeze to get them in, but they do fit.

They look like the Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 to me but need to get a bit closer to be certain. If they are then 17” ones then they are around £100ish each via Halfrawds.
They are similar but not the same, I looked at the team dynamics ones but the writing around the rim would put me off, all a bit too ricer. Has anyone else got these on a Griff, I have seen the silver car above on the Silverstone site, would be nice to see them on a darker car.

Yes these are the guys my chap uses, I was looking at six pots hence the bigger wheels, also I had bigger calipers that were a tight fit on a Fiat Coupe a few years back, a stone jamed between the caliper and the wheel, not pretty!

We've covered this before, but for those that missed it (
): The SP12 wheels comes from the same casting as the Team Dynamics Pro-Race 1.2. The Pro-Race 1.2 is a generic aftermarket wheel which can be supplied in a format that fits to the car. Companies that sell it generally don't carry stock and offer a limited range of colours. The SP12 wheel is a tuning wheel that has been optimised in weight, and technical specification to fit the TVR range (including the Griffith) correctly. It is made without the "Team Dynamics" lettering in the rim and is available with TVR logo wheel centres. The wheel is generally available from stock in silver finish (a wide variety of other colours available as special order) albeit that they have sold better than expected and we have (as groomvroom testifies) run out of stock on a few occasions.
If you want to buy an aftermarket wheel that is supplied with spigot rings, aftermarket centre badges and a generic offset, then the Pro-Race 1.2 may be for you. If you want a tuning product that is properly engineered for your TVR and that will ultimately add value to your pride and joy, then, the more expensive SP12 may be for you!

I had hoped to post a pic of my car wearing it’s nice new Pro race 1.2s to show how similar they are. However it may be that the SP ones are the better buy because presumably they are drilled correctly . Fitted the 1.2 fronts fine but unfortunately despite being stamped 108pcd the clever Team Dymanics people seem to have drilled the rears 100pcd, so the comparison pic and review on how quickly they respond to the error will have to wait.
It's no secret that the SP12 employs the same tool for its shape as the Race 1.2, but there the similarity ends. Use of an existing tool saves development costs. (Imagine how many wheel sets would have to be sold if SP had tooled up for each of the wheel sizes it offers for the TVR range and tens of thousands of pounds per tool?)
SP could - hypothetically - have chosen a slot mag tool (or any existing wheel design for that matter) as a basis, enabling anybody who ever fitted slot mags to show their wheels "looked the same". They wouldn't be though - there is a lot more to wheel engineering than what they look like.
The 12 spoke design suits TVRs (indeed the SP12 looks very similar to an OZ wheel design used on the Cerbera Speed 12). A similar looking wheel (a few more spokes) is fitted to the new Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera - it's a cool wheel.
I'm quite impressed you managed to get four wheels for your Griff so quickly because the shop would have to split two sets of wheels, in the same colour, intended for two completely different types of car to make a set anything like the right offsets for a Griff. I assume you have 18" rear and 17" front, same as SP offers?

No. I specifically ordered 7.5 x 17 fronts and 8 x 17 rears to fit the slicks I have. They didn’t seem at all phased by the order, I am told they are made to order anyway. Quality looks fine, just the small problem of them drilling the holes wrong. Would have bought a set of SPs off you today, and sent these back but sadly the wrong size for my rubber.

I think it's a real shame the SP wheels are not a bit wider. 7" front wheels are OK with 55 profile tyres (205, 215 and even 225 tyres fit) but with a 40 profile you are really limited to a max 205 tyre. If upgrading wheels why downgrade on tyre sizes?
The SP configuration maintains the rolling radius of the standard wheels and the SP recommended tyre sizes provide an excellent balance of grip, turn-in sensitvity and traction between the axles. There's such a thing as over-tyre'ing, especially on a front axle and bigger wheels with bigger tyres increase weight where you don't want it.

I'm not suggesting "over tyre'ing" is a good thing but just to maintain the original (later) tyre widths of 225 front and 245 rear on larger diameter rims (and hence lower profile tyres) requires wider rims. In addition, there are many that believe the standard wheel widths are a bit narrow for the standard tyre sizes anyway.

I raised this point when they were launched. As you point out the 7.5" rear rims were for 225 tyres and were not made wider for the wider tyres which would be better suited to an 8.5" rim. It is interesting to note that the SP wheels for the same width of tyre for T-chassis cars have wider rims... lol
