Can you let me know if / how you were notified that the repaired unit was being delivered back to you?

I will need to arrange to work from home that day so will need some notice as to when it's likely to be.

Do MS / UPS / someone else let you know when they're going to send it back?

Cheers

I had to keep in touch with them, when they said it was fixed you have to ask for the delivery info (ups) go on their website and track it. Mines on its way back to me now hopefully?

Great thanks - how long has it taken for yours to come back?

Mine was only gone for about 3 days,

1 day there, 1 day to check / replace, 1 day back. Can't complain!

My xbox died the other week.

Bought on Decemeber 2nd, i didn't hold out much hope but HMV happily swapped it over for a fresh one over the counter.

No hassles whatsoever.

Very happy (and surprised) with their service.

(Sorry, know it doesn't help you at all, just thought i'd share in case people are sending them back to microsoft instead of their local shop)

My 360 went back last Wednesday, came back today (Monday). No notification that it was coming back and I expected it to take longer. Was a year old refurb though.

Yeah mine was collected last week (Thursday) I called the Xbox help team last night and they said that no notification is given. If no one's in UPS just leave a card and arrange a redelivery. Seems a slightly odd way of doing it as I could save them the hassle of coming out twice if they'd let me know.

Never mind, I'll at least be able to arrange for the redelivery to come at a suitable time.

Cheers

That only tracked to the drop off at the repairers - I don't think it's tracking it back again. Assuming that it's on it's way of course!

Cheers - still nothing here, over a week later now.

It's odd, I wouldn't have thought that I'd used the 360 all that much, but I have found myself kicking around the flat a couple of times in the last couple of days, especially in the mornings!

i got the 'three red lights' last night when i switched my 360 on...

my heart sunk... the error message on the screen...

though, switched it off and on again and all was fine - is this a sign of things to come? or could it been a one off?

Could be a loose connection with the power supply? Check that first as I had a couple of times early on and had just slightly knocked the cable loose.

If your box starts freezing though it could well be on it's last legs - make sure it's well vented, but maybe don't get one of the 3rd part "fan bases" as I have read elsewhere that they can actually cause errors themselves.

Bollocks - it's always me!

So I get a tracking number yesterday and arrange to work from home to wait for it's delivery. I checked the UPS tracking system and it tells me that it was delivered (back tot he repair centre) on the 26th March. Hum though I, they've given me the wrong tracking number, but no, apparantly UPS have tried to deliver the console 3 times and then taken it back to the repair centre.

All without a single card through my door to tell me they've been and with me reconfirming the address to Xbox 3 times (4 now!)

Unfortunately I'm on vacation next week and then it's Easter, so I won't be able to get it back until potentially the 13th April or maybe even the week after.

I have to say I'm pretty pissed off as I do enjoy switching off with the old 360 and had been looking forward to getting it back today, going on holiday and then having a good catch up session on Easter Monday. Bollocks.

Still, MS quoted me 15 days which would ahve been oday so they're outside of their SLA so I will look to get something off in exchange, they'll have to recoup that from UPS themselves IMO.

That really sucks the fat one IMHO - especially if you had to take a day off work to wait for it to arrive.

Sigh

Still no 360, despite calling on Sunday and Monday and getting a confirmation call back on Monday that "We'll send it out to you straight away". I called again today (thinking that maybe 2 days was sufficient to collect and deliver, only to find out that the repair centre hadn't even been emailed to request to send it.

I nearly blew my top at the poor chap on the phone, but he has promised me he'd resolve it and get the console to me by Friday (Just short of a month after they received it)

I did say that if it wasn't here on Friday I would be particularly upset as I've had a number of unmet promises now, so here's hoping he will actually deliver some service.

So i eventually decided to go and pick the bloody thing up myself - down to Barking, collected it, took it back home.

Great I thought, so I plugged it in, started the process of re setting it all up and... it's crashed.

Within approx 3 minutes of being turned on. These are exactly the same symptoms the precursored the last 3 red lights so to say I am furious is a distinct understatement. Customer services were truly awful in that all they could offer me was a first party game (what's the point in that when my console keeps breaking!?) and they flatly refused to send me a new console to replace their evidently not fit for purpose console.

I am in the process of writing to the MD of Microsft UK, and have already filed a complaint with Watchdog. This is simply unacceptable behaviour and from what little research I have done (you don't need to dig deep) Microsoft appear to be aware of the problem and not issuing a recall / replacement.

So many people have had more than one repair, normally immediatly aftert he return of the console it is almost staggering.

I don't really know what to do - I guess I'll have to send it back for a repair again, but the thought of having to go through another 4 weeks of bollox almost makes me want to just say it and write the whole thing off!

So basically they hadn't actually fixed it.

Personally I'd Spares/Repair it on ebay and buy a gaming PC. At least when they break you can replace the knakkered component.
