Well......

Decided to let you guys decide on the VXR8 tomorrow, and thought I would have a quick drive tonight and keep my thoughts til tomorrow evening....but....ITS FANTASTIC!!!

Its v quick, looks huge yet very very butch, great turn in, loads of grip, great brakes, really really intuitive traction control, great cabin noise from engine, not exhaust, seats are on a completely different level of comfort and grip etc etc etc spin

As a Monaro driver I wasnt sure whether it would be too different, to saloonlike to appeal. Initial impression....great great car and a worthy, and just as appealing, successor to the Monaro.

Drive on!!

It will be down to personal taste. Personally I would change some bits, but thats because I am currently spoiled and want the same if not better from any future car, however, it is a more rounded and complete package than VXR Monaro on first impressions. But, its not a coupe and will appeal aesthetically in a different way.

I have to say it is growing on me big time both in looks and in technical ability. However its main problem is thus: It is a saloon car. This means people will be, in the main, buying this as their main car and people who buy saloon cars are generally doing motorway miles, so for them a BMW 535D does the same job (in terms of mid-range overtaking) but with far better economy. The Monaro on the other hand was a bit of a hoot, more of a weekend car if you know what I mean so you are really appealing to a different audience. It will be interesting to see how it pans out and I sincerly hope it does fantastically well, I just hope people aren't put off by the V8 (a fantastic one at that! ) and steer off at the last minute to buy the Munich taxi.

Have you forgot already? The Monaro is just an aberration of the Commodore!
Nice to see Vaux are now importing proper Holdens!

It does appear to sit a little high on 19"'s, body roll is better checked, the shifter is much better but still not as accurate or as short as a ripshifter. Feels very confidence inspiring, especially in the snow!!!

Too. Many. Doors.

I'm biased - I've never liked saloons (bar the RS4) and I just can't get by my own prejudice on this one. I'll pass

Ride hieght looks OK in the flesh, I guess the ultimate for looks would be 20''
wheels and the lower springs, (but then that's the age old handling/ride conundrum), but I'm not sure I'd have fillings left.
Gearbox feel is significantly better

Roger is now working on C6's. I think they are diversifying, a good idea IMO.
There arnt many good Chev workshops around. I went through about 4 with my camaro.

makes sense. The TWR link to VX can't be a good thing for the tuners of the new VXR8? I was told that you can now pretty much buy a factory backed modded car, akin to the vxr500.

I suppose that monaro work is slowing down too as people are either looking to upgrade to the new car or have already had the work done?

Anything with a Chev V8 in it must be good. I think resticting oneself to one marque prevents maximisation of life utility.

The 6.6L Turbo Diesel Duramax trucks are pretty cool too.

I guess this is where is makes sense for GM to sell the new Camaro over here, as it'll fill that role nicely yes
