Why? What the hell is wrong with these people? It's a bus that runs on just two routes, both of which are also served by accessible buses, and yet they want rid of it?

Why do people like this want to sap every last tiny scrap of fun, excitement and pride from life?

It would be a much better idea to replace them all with bendy buses that take up loads of room on the already congested streets!!

My mate calls them 'Mayor Kens Chariots of Fire'

I thought that when I read the article this morning. As much as it may be unfashionable to criticise disabled organisations, these selfish zealots need the facts of life explaining to them. They are not the be all and end all of society, they are a part of it along with able bodied people. If they don't like Routemasters fine but they have no more rights to call for them to be scrapped than the rest of us who do like to see them running. In fact I would say these type of people do more harm for disabled causes than good. p.s. I have a severely disabled aunt who lives in Barnes and before she retired used the bus to get her to here work in Harvey Nichols. Rich...

Busses designed for cities with a grid of wide streets not the maze that london is. But don't worry, he's cutting a deal with a South-American despot to get some cheap fuel.

I live in Canada but have lived in London. It strikes me that a massive grimness has overtaken all things automotive in the UK, and the poor old Routemasters are just the latest thing. The poor old motorist seems to be about as popular as baked beans on a bus..

When I was 14 and first went to London and got a bus, I just thought "what a great idea that you can get on and off where u like- less traffic congestion"

that was 1978 when people used to say that London Traffic was terrible..The Jam wrote a song about it .. sing along everyone
