Like everyone else I have read probably 5 different road tests of the new generation GT3 the overall impression is that you should sell bodily organs or loved ones to obtain one.
Interesting,so I contacted my local OPC dealership who would be happy to take a refundable deposit, but I should not expect a car within 18 months.
I phoned round a few others and came up with pretty much the same story.Even our friends in Europe are talking about a year wait.At which point will I care ?Particularly as we will be all Ga-ga over the 997 by then(?)

There is no way I can wait that long so I have more or less, reluctantly put it at the back of my mind.
The only reason i bought new last time is because I managed to get it to my spec in 5 weeks, those 5 weeks were tough enough not only me but friends & family.

So what to do?
I think 99/00 GT3 particularly lhd will soon be available under £50k hopefully nearer £45k..but they have never quite achived ultimate in my or the views of those certainly more in the know.

I would like a good 993RS....rhd 993Rs are advertised at truly speculative prices,I have looked at a few lhd cars but a left hooker is going to have to be an exemplary specimen for me to take the step.(please do not start the lhd 911 thing).

My current car is due to be advertised at a reasonable price,I really like it and should probably keep it,but after nearly 1 year a change may be due.

So what to do?

I tried to order a GT3 at my local OPC about a month ago and they wouldn't even take my money! Said they would only get 5 and it would take 2 years to fill those orders

Well I'm happy with the 993 for now but I keep going into Noble dealers Although for £55k a 993 turbo looks another good option.

C3 - M12 are around the £40 mark for 2.5's, and if you get the right one you can have the upgrade to 330 "ish" () bhp and greater bottom end torque for a meer 600 or so sobs.

Couple that the the handling and if you live around anywhere except the straightes of straightes roads then you can get a 12 month old Noble for £15k less than your cheapers 993t if your figures quoted are correct (blindyak)

Not "dissing" the 993t - fine car, evolved better from my (undriven) impression into the 996tt.

Of course one thing is sure - Lee's finest will get more people stareing at you .......

Joust, I hope Mr Noble is offering you a good discount on your GTC for all of your fine PR work.

The first generation GT3 values are pretty stable, why not put a deposit down on a new one and buy a first generation model to keep yourself occupied while you wait - check out :
www.rupertlewinracing.com/Sales.htm
I'm pretty sure that Porsche are keeping an open mind over how many new generation GT3's they will build (unlike previous generation)- 12 months wait for any Carrera.
With the deposit being refundable / transferable - you may find that you like the first generation one so much you decide to wait for a 997 GT3........

Unless you can get a new GT3 now, buy a used older 911. As soon as the 997 is around the corner everything will drop - especially nearly new 996's! I Certainly wouldnt pay more than the sixty ish thousand for a tt from now on

If you gave me your budget today and I turned off the Ultima part of my brain, I would be looking at two cars. The 993RS in some shape or form (probably LHD and preferably RSR), and the LHD 996TT in Joe Macari right now with under 10k miles on the clock for 59 grand... If that wasn't hardcore enough I'm sure Mr Ruf could sort something out. If the new GT3 is 72k, that leaves 13k to play with. That gets you some suspension mods and maybe some engine work.

Justin (joust) is welcome to spread the word - it is a Noble cause after all. Mainly because I was selling 993RSs to the hilt on the Noble forum, so fair's fair

I will be, but there's 'unfinished business' with UV calling me a pikey and RR putting the 993RS in the same camp as an MX-5! Honour must be defended.

I ordered new GT3 18 mths ago, it arrives September. My current GT3 will be up for sale soon, supposedly rawer than the new one.

I wouldn't go quite as far as an mx5 Dom! 20% of me may still go down that route yet! However, I'm perusing JZM and G-force 'packages' at the mo. Verrrrrry interesting! Wha Ha Ha Haaa!

Only what I have read, but reports from overseas owners who have traded from old to new GT3 is that the refinements in steering & suspension department make the new version slightly less raw than it's predecessor. That has got to be a good thing as it may help take advantage of the evidently better engine.

Domster / Joust I hope you didn't mis interpret my Noble comments, views are fair enough...I look forward to seeing the Noble show up some big guns at Bruntingthorpe...cheers.
