Disco v8 question- Where does your temp guage needle sit?

I got a 93 Disco 3.5 with gas, when pulling hard or when loaded up the temp guage gets up past halfway and to the 3/4 line. Do i have a problem, or is this ordinary?? thanks

Check the viscous fan, it may be freewheeling when it should be driving air.

Got a '97 3.9 and it has never moved above halfway.
(It's also running gas)

As above, check the fan is working - also have a peek at the radiator. They get clagged up with mud/bugs etc as well as losing 'fins' which greatly reduces the amount of cooling they can do. The rads are also prone to silting up on the inside, too. It might be worth removing it and taking it along to somewhere like Serck Marston for a rebuild.
