Morning all,

Still got fogging issues. I've tried all the tricks, foggy mask, anti-fog inserts, washing up liquid and a few others, but still getting the problem. I remember seeing a stand at the Ally Pally show where some bloke was showing off his prodict by coating half a mirror in "his stuff" and then boiling a kettle underneath it. The results looked brilliant, but I just wondered if anyone's ever bought it, and where I can get some from.

Appreciate any help.

Cheers.

Potato, does the same thing as the bloke at the show, cut in half, polish up, job done. Doesnt last long, mind.

New Shoei has a PinLock insert, which works incredibly well, just find it restricts head down vision, so not perfect. Old AGV with a Foggy worked perfectly, but its replacement Arai was appalling, even with all vents flowing freely, giving me ice cream head.

Have you tried a different helmet, or alternatively, a different means of breathing.

Failing that, grow gills?

I’ve seen that demo too but I’ve never actually bought the product so can’t comment on it.

I have used various products including Sea Drops which I have for my Scuba mask and RainX Anti Fog. All of them work OK for a while but I have not yet found any product that works fully and I tend to find that on longer journeys where it is particularly wet and cold the visor will begin to fog after some period of time regardless what anti-fog protection I use.

I now have a Pin Lock insert which is the best so far but I did notice on my last ‘rain soaked’ run even it began to mist slightly.

Do ‘top up’ your anti-mist coating on a regular basis even if the conditions haven’t been bad enough to cause misting. Other than that, I’m afraid the only answer I have found is to live with it.

Chilli - what helmet do you have? I used to used a anti fog insert on my arai and have a pinlock one of the Shoei which is fantastic! I seem to remember you bought a semi-unusual make of helmet or though that might be my memory playing tricks with me.

Pinlock have a new product out which basically covers the whole of the visor instead of just the middle like the old ones. This meaning, when you're tucked down you can still actually see.

Contact lenses? I wear specs day-to-day. Ironically, I've found the latest fashion for narrow spec lenses fog less that the old 'Harry Potters', but the downside is that I can see over the top of them when givin' it the beans - dunno what is worse.

I buy 90 days of disposable lenses every 3 years, only wear them in the summer or for motorcycling (saves on 2 lots of that rip-off test they make you have for contacts)

How are you using the Fairy Liquid? The trick is to clean the visor and then apply neat fairy to the inside and buff it off rather than wash it off. That trick has always worked for me.
