Tyres for 944 Turbo
Discussion
I need a new set of tyres to fit 17" cups on my 944 Turbo. Sizes 195/60-17 and 225/45-17
The car is a third car use on sunny days and weekends only. I'm not looking for the ultimate stickiness; for the road I would prefer a tyre that handles progressively.
My options seem to be Avon ZV3, Bridgestone RE050, Continental Sport Contact (2 or 3), Pirelli Pzero Rosso, Goodyear Eagle, Dunlop SP01.

ISTR 17" cups on a 944 would have same size tyres as on cups fitted to a 968 CS which would ISTR be 225 on the front and 255 on the rear? are you sure about wanting those tyre sizes?
I just went from the original 16" tyre sizes (195/65VR16 and 225/50VR16) and applied the old rule of up one inch in wheel size = down one notch on the profile to give the same (or nearly) rolling circumference. If standard fitment for 17" cups is 225 and 255 then I'll go with that. What profile would those size be for the 968?

Fronts 225/45 (i think) rear 255/40
I had Michelin Pilot Sports on my 968, and they were fabulous; lots of wet and dry grip, quiet, and up to track use. Michelin and Porsche will tell you they don't have a 'N' spec 968 MPS tyre in the correct front size, only the older type. But they do, altough its for a Boxster. Michelin were not able to tell me why these tyres would suit a Boxster, but not a 968, its clearly that Porsche didn't want to test tyres for a 12 year old low volume model. A set is around £500 from Micheldever.
Alternatively, I've heard good things of Toyo Proxes (?), avaialbe for about £375/set.
