As this has become something of a hot topic, let's clear the decks and start again.

The remarks Alan has made are all correct, and to recap:

If you are only MOVING the car:

1) Put the key in the ignition, turn it to the first detent (where the dash diagnositics fire up)
2) WAIT until the self check has finished and OK is displayed (10 seconds).
3) THEN turn the engine over.
4) Allow the engine to run for atleast 2 minutes (during which time you can obviously move the car).
5) Don't trust the bloody handbrake!

If you are DRIVING somewhere:

Carry out steps 1), 2) and 3) only, then bugger off. No need for a warm up.

The most common reason for a spurious ECL alert is failing to follow this advice.

If you habitually follow these instructions, ECL alerts shouldn't occur for anything other than a GENUINE fault. You also won't be troubling Lambo Assist or your dealer with stupid problems.

Contrary to popular thinking, it's in the dealer's interests NOT to have cars in for silly faults. If the car appears unreliable, word gets out and sales suffer for no good reason (new and used).

I've had my Gallardo for 2 years, from new. Not a single thing has ever gone wrong in nearly 12,000 miles (other than self-inflicted!). "Larry" really doesn't know what a workshop looks like, nor should he.

Hope this puts to bed any outstanding queries.
