V8 vs. 4 Cyl. Weight!
Discussion
I've been looking into the differences in weight between the V8's and 4 cylinder Esprits. I'm waiting for offical kerb weights from Lotus.
I've gather some weights from my site just to start the debate.
V8 (SE 02) = 1380kg
S4 = 1339kg
V8-GT = 1325kg
SE = 1305kg
350 = 1300kg
Turbo (88-91) = 1282kg
GT3 = 1229kg
Think all of these are kerb weight. But as I've said, I'm getting compareable weights of all models from Lotus.
To me it seems that the difference is only a passenger or some luggage or fuel. I'm sure 50kg ligher doesn't make that much difference. But I sure there are those who know more than I.
Considering my experience with removing the spare wheel (13kg), maybe it does make a difference. I've saved around 30kgs on my Esprit. So once I know how much difference weight saving makes, I might start looking into major weight saving for the Esprits.
All comments most welcome, positive and negative.
