I'm not sure about '97 model (think that is the facelift????), but the used to be an electric aerial on the n/s rear wing (on a RHD cars).
Our 1997 CL-Class has the aerial in the roof pillars.....may be they put them in the pillars of the C-Class, post-facelift?

I just had to call my Mercedes Specialist about my own car, so I asked him.
He's not 100%, but he thinks the aerial is actually located in the rear window glass, as extra lines in-laid. A booster pack for the aerial is also located in on of the C- (rear-) pillars.

Yes, i managed to acquire a Haynes manual, and found out there, only problem is now is that one of the vertical lines is broken, which probably explains why the aerial doesn't work!!
Does anyone know if this can be fixed cheaply, i.e. any adhesive copper strips or something you can buy??
