Help - Worn Bottom Ball Joint !!!!!!!

Hi Guys

TVR 350i 1989

Just fitted some new tyres to my Brown Wedgie
and have been told I need a new bottom ball joint,
as I am confirmed to do the Cadwell Park trackday in May

Can anybody help with a part no, or at least a definate car
that the suspension came from, to help with sourcing a new one

Dickie dont worry, RT or TVR carparts will fix you up. Not too many beer tokens and easy to fit. Granada Cortina I think.

Get ones with a grease nipple. Original Ford one's have, but seem that supplies are running out. Other aftermarket stuff seems not to last long on a wedge(if driven of course), and have no grease nipple. Interested if someone knows of a quality replacement.
And if the ball joints have never been replaced you need to grid/hack the rivet connections to the wishbone and replace with nuts and bolts coming with the new ball joint.

You want Cortina MK4 or MK5. Granada ones I believe are slightly different.
These should do the job,no idea on the quality though.

Agree, only cortina ball joints will fit.

Mk1 and 2 Cortinas had mcpherson struts and track control arms. Totally different suspension setup. Mk3 should be ok.

the part no are QQQ FD-BJ-0336 i paid 25 pound for this balljoint
and QQQ FD-BJ-4121 and i paid 24 pound for this balljoint from car spares in birmingham phone no if req 0121 702 2190 sorry i cannot remember which was the top and which was the bottom but the first one was of a granada and the 2rd was of a cortina 70-82

The local ford agent supplied lockheed delphi part number TC73. They fitted the bottom wishbone perfectly. Price last year was £9.35 each.

I managed to get both the top and bottom ball joints for £12 plus delivery
so very happy

Darren - I checked RT racing who wanted £16.95 each plus delivery

Just got to get them fitted and roll on Cadwell Trackday in May

just bin trying to replace this part myself. I got a cortina QH part no. QSJ711S. it looks perfect but the holes dont line up and the angle is wrong on the mount plate. so for my 84 350i i can safely say the QH cortina part is defo not right. am looking at others now

Just did a search to double check. Have a look here

If Steve Heath says it's off a Cortina, then it's off a Cortina. Maybe you have the wrong part in the box or maybe they have supplied the wrong part???
Or just maybe someone has fitted Granada wishbones to your car at some point......if that's possible.

Just put 'QSJ711S' into Google and one hit says it's for a MK2 Granada, but it's a foreign site and I can't understand any of it!!!!

IIRc the Granada one is 'identical' apart from a slightly longer baseplate, so you could in theory drill the wishbone to match... but here the OP is saying the angle (I presume of the baseplate) differs so maybe not.
It is also possible that it's the wrong part in the box; I've had that happen. It's more common nowadays with people frantically rummaging through boxes in stores trying to match things up.
When I were a lad you only had half a dozen of anything to compare. Now for some odd reason every single car needs a different balljoint/ wheel bearing/ brake pad/ clutch plate/ water pump/ timing belt etc etc. - even when from the same bloody manufacturer!
