get me the most enjoyment for my money and have others been here and had to decide?

should i sell my gorgeous T350 and buy a used sagaris,

or use the money to say... have thon T350 rebuilt as a reliable 4.0 or 4.2 with the complementing head mods, upgraded clutch, gears, front brakes, carbon airbox, djc's additions etc.?

it would make for a pretty special T350 but i dont know enough about the subject to decide without advise!

my car is fine, but once the summer is gone i want a plan of action as i intend to stay with tvr a while however hollow my pockets may end up.

Do you have any engine problems at the moment?
If not then do nothing and just enjoy the great car you already have.

If you are going to do anything, buy an 2005 Sagaris with as few miles as possible (mute point as others will say they should have done more miles etc - my opinion only).
Ensure it has a CR box and the correct 3,73 diff.
Rework supsension geometry Castor and Camber - leave the standard shocks and springs.
Fit some decent pads Mintex F4R.
Get some soft rubber (R888 or P Zeros)
Enjoy.

Cost diffrence will less than upgarding the T350, no loss of time off road, or track. Sag will be worth more than the modded T350.

If after a few years the engine needs to be freshened up, there may well be some history to support the claims of the various engine builders and you will be better placed to choose your upgrades.

All IMHO of course.

Best advise I can give you is whatever you do for your maximum enjoyment make sure you dont do it through finance..Thats why you see so many people come and go on here the finance eventually will kill you if you have a TVR and that black cloud hanging over you with regards to rebuilds.

If you have the cash get a Sag as John quoted.

Just be aware that you'll probably get reamed selling the T350 to any dealer. If you can sell it privately for sensible money then go for it.

Wrestled with same thoughts for a while. Either could work.

New Sag & T350 engines appear to be lasting quite well so far, apart from very occasional head gasket/clutch problems on this site. Time/mileage will tell as Daftlad says.

I eventually chose the upgrade route only because overall I still prefer the purity of the T350 design, and there's now lots of exciting upgrade possibilities including rather more torque/power than any factory engines if that's your bag. You'll never get your money back though!

A dilemma

thanks guys

i have no issues with my car at the moment, but would like to plan ahead.

i had advertised my car but changed my mind, up here in aberdeen its hard to sell as most interested people are down south and wont risk the journey north incase they dont fancy going ahead.

the T350 looks would be great with all the right upgrades but costs could spiral, i love that i dont see ANY T350's ever when im using mine, unless i go to a meet of some sort but then sagarii are simply put - awesome cars

its a close call i guess but whichever way either would be great.

what a dilemma im having eh!

I have to agree with Daftlad, I'm having new R888 fitted tomorrow and can't wait for that track day.

Just having the 4.0L Red Rose Upgrade done to my Tamora as we speak at Dulford Automotive. My Tamora is a 2002 and I thought about selling it and buying a newer one. But as I've spent alot of money on it so far alloys, clutch, JP Sports Exhaust, decided to keep it and get the engine upgraded, and also Nitron Shocks fitted.

It appears from feedback from Richard at Dulford that the Cam Followers on my original Speed 6 engine where well worn. Seems that I made the correct decision in upgrading the engine now whilst I have the money, because my original engine might of blown in the near future, but I was'nt to know the condition of the engine.

I would upgrade the T350 as this might be a cheaper option.

I went through this process also had it up for sale for a couple of weeks then realised the error of my ways

Personally I am waiting for someone to come up with an upgrade package that includes a supercharger, suspension and stopping.... I can honestly say that nothing on the market grabs me unless I had an additional 50 to 60k to spend.... I would love for my T350 to be running an honest 450bhp lick

From a 3.6 Scotty? You will want an intercooler on it and space is an issue. I always take the attitude that just because a T5 box *can* take 450horses (just about) it leaves a piss poor engineering margin, so it should get a better box. Even worse space issues come with that! At 450ponies a T350 *definately* needs...not wants, needs, an aero package and one above just an additional Gurney Flap.
If you want that much power and doing it properly, you are best of speccing Carbon Ceramic brakes...and they dont come cheap, trust me, Ive spoken to them!

Combine that with a stopping and suspension package and you are looking at a layout of between £15-£20k depending on the quality of the work done.

You have to ask yourself if its worth that much extra just to run 450ponies on a road system that more and legislates itself against such things.

All good points, I am only going on threads I have seen on here and the suggestion that it could be done, I can't claim any real knowledge on the subject it has to be said... however 15 to 20k seems reasonable, lets assume my car is still worth 20 to 22k and I throw another 17k at it we are still only looking at 40k or so, and what can you get for 40k with 450bhp that has the looks and feel of the TVR, still nothing in my eyes...

Got a fair point in that case

You would have a monstrously quick motor car. Might even be worth having a chat with Gav about his sequential box if yer willing to throw £20k at the job.

When you get round to thinking seriously about it, give me a yell and we shall see what can be done.

Mines a T350T Redrose engine (380 bhp ?)would like to increase the torque ,having driven a 4.0 T350C felt smoother but not altogether much quicker and at the time was told it was quicker than a Saggy.
suppose you can have 4-500 bhp but if the road is busy you aint going to get past and you end up pottering along with everyone else.

Exactly. Several of us are taking this kind of route, we shall see whether it all works as well as we hope.

GT3's, Evo's etc are hugely impressive, but since my first TVR in '88 I've wanted to have a roadgoing TVR with all it's creature comforts that could truly run rings around the best road cars that anyone else makes.

After a season's amateur motorsport in my fairly standard one last year, I'm convinced that a (rather expensively) modified T350 or a Sagaris has the chassis and light weight to do it... theoretically the Carrera GT benchmarks of acceleration & track times are perfectly possible.

Are there any particular reasons for this 'reaming' (apart from Dealer desire??!!)
I think the T350 is a beautiful car with all the performance that the rest of the modern Tivs have, so I don't understand why the T350 would suffer more than the other models

Apart from Sagaris - extremely rare, Tuscan - most popular by far

Not selling mine anyway!!!

If you want to see some photos of the new engine upgrade and Red Air Box then I will email you them when I get the Tiv back.
Looking forward to seeing how the Nitron Shocks improve the handling.

Well if you put it like that its probably no worse than p/ex ing a Porsche for a Porsche.
