How much to replace a Griff wooden dash with a Metal one ?

Hi - just wondering what I should expect to pay for a replacement dash for a Griff. Parts and labour.
I want to put in a polished steel one instead of my very rubbish peeling wooden one !

It's all a matter of taste but do you reckon you'll get reflection issues from polished steel driving with the roof off in the summer?

About a £150 from Leven, you can fit it yourself, takes time but not difficult, instructions on the Griffithpages website. I have had stainless steel dashes in all but one of the 9 Tivs ive owned and had no probs with reflections. Unlike the wood, its a case of fit and forget.

I've got a Chimaera myself but think that the Griff dash in wood is one of the best looking dashes around.

Mine was done with a vinyl type material, not got any proper photos of it but here is one where you can just about see it

That's handy Mike... I happen to have a spare dash if you'd like me to bring it on Sunday? The veneer's horrible, but if you're looking for a template or just the backplate it's yours.

Thanks all - yes mines from a 99 Griff. The veneer is only held on by the instruments ! If I get it replaced someone is welcome to have it...but I'm not sure you'd want it !

Apparently you can get Carbon fibre ones...anyone know what they're like ?

I think plain or polished metal will look wrong. I've seen it on a wedge and didn't like it. The Leven ones are chequer finish which looks good and gives no trouble with reflections. Some have a machine-turned finish which looks quite good too.

The only material I would replace mine with is the black ash veneer as seen on some Jaguars - but that is only because I have black leather and black dials.

I personally think that any metal or vinyl type material makes the cars look more as if they are still kit cars. The only exception may be polished carbon fibre.

But hey, what do I know ... I like yellow cars!

My old Wedge had suede on the glove-box facing instead of veneer - it looked crap! (If Mr Davey reads this, sorry mate!)

i had mine done on my 94 griff and supplied by leven's
There is sun reflection when on your back but not enough problem than one can cope with

i seem to remember that levens charged approx 4/5 hour labour...quite an involved job so i didn't bother and paid them!
