Used Gallardo Warranty Query?
Discussion
Friend of mine is looking to sell his Conti for a used Gallardo - I have sourced the car for him (Black 2004 E Gear at £85K,6k miles) but i have a query?? Porsche will grant a used warranty to a privately bought car if it passes there £200 111 OPC check at £895 a year! Do Lamborghini offer a similar scheme? Your input would be much appreciated.
P.S. For me, the Gallardo is the most beautiful car ever penned and i cant wait for it to arrive.

Thanks Sqiurego - Any views on the reliabilty, from what i read in Autocar and Top Gear, it could practically be used as an everyday car BUT when you visit certain forums - The car gets critised for cluches going every 3k miles etc?? Porsche forum is the same may i add as i was always under the impression that a 996 was bomb proof in the reliability stakes but it seems in reality it is no better than other high performance cars.
just wondered if there was any more input on this topic as i am currently debating an o4 54 gallardo and am worried about the warranty expiration issue. to be honest i know i can get a independent warranty that will cover my clutch but what if worse case scenario happens and the engine blows up? (how much is that gonna cost?/ would my car insurance cover that?) !!!!. anyone know of anyone one who will cover the full warranty even if it does cost a few quid?
My only criticism of Lamborghini is the lack of extendable warranty. When will they get this sorted out! I can only speak for my experience of course, but in 33,000 miles the only time the car wouldn’t start (this week actually) was down to a loose earth lead which was fixed by the AA in 35 minutes and I was on my way again. Other than that, I’ve had no mechanical failures. The clutch is still going strong after been swapped out at 3,000 for a revision E plate.
Note to owners – Three earth leads attach to the chassis on the near side behind the front wheel. Corrosion can build up between the three leads attached via one bolt and stop the car from starting.
I’ll describe what happened to my car, so you can watch out for the symptoms ...
Sometimes starting up, the dash lights would all flash, and the starter motor would either emit a loud knocking noise, or just growl. If I left the car for 5 minutes it would then start.
This week I went to start the car, all the lights went crazy, headlights flashing on/off, indicators going – and then the headlight washer jets popped out and started to empty the washer fluid. I existed the car and locked it to make a call – big mistake, it would let me back in. It looked quite funny, all the lights flashing, the washing gets going up/down. Lucky for me a few things feel into place:
1) An AA van was parked up next to me!
2) A quick call to Lambo Manchester and they identified the fault over the phone.
The AA man spent 30 minutes under the car cleaning and re-attaching the earth leads – it now starts better than its done in months.
Next time your cars in for a service get them to clean these leads, and if you try it yourself, make sure you get a spare bolt first, apparently they can break easily.
Regards
Simon
