just trashed my Bridgestone S02s.....as these are not readily available have to switch to another decent grippy wet or dry road tyre. Has anyone tried the Toyo's which look similar, reputable Japanese manufacturer but no N rating. I seem to remember the 964 guru Adrian Streather giving them a good rating. ???

Not tried them yet, but AFAIK the VW Corrado Club think that they're wonderful.

I've got the early T1's on my wee Cinquecento Turbo, and in the wet it wheelspins very easily in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, up to 60 odd! The new series is supposed to be a lot better though, and I also think that my car is just too light for the size of tyre footprint.

I'd say that the traction (wet and dry) is not up to Yoko standards but the wear rate is far better, and the feel is very nice - if they start to go, it's very progressive (which could be a life-saver in a Porker)

Mine seem to attract punctures from nails and screws etc. though.

I was given an explaination by a "reputable" tyre fitting company that it was because they have such a heafty metal carcuss that they become magnetic and pick up road debris!!!!! I kid you not.

I've just put Proxes on my 86 3.2 Carrera and they are a massive improvement over my previous tyres (which were, admittedly, incredibly bad). I've also had them before though and found them to be broadly similar to the SO-2s that I had previously. In short, I think they're excellent tyres, especially for the money.

Toyo do make the Proxes T1-S in an 'N' rating - I've been looking for some myself. I've found them in a couple of places for about £350 inc VAT and delivery for all four corners. Have a look at mytyres.co.uk they seem to be unbelievably cheap but they said they couldn't give me a delivery time on the N rated Proxes as the German distributor (cheaper than UK) that they use hasn't got any in stock. That said they can do four SO-2's for less than £400 - so still worth a look I reckon !

I've been using Kumho Ecsta supra 712's on my 968 CS (as recommended by Callum Lockie), and as the ContiSport's on the new 964C2 are wearing a bit thin, I will probably fit the same again (esp as 280 quid for all four). I've run SO-2's on other cars, and don't think they're worth the extra dosh IMHO.
