Passat W8 - Anyone driven / owned one?

Currently use and abuse a Passat Syncro as my every day commuter. Noticed that W8s are dropping in price and am tempted.

So, a few questions :

a) What are they like to drive
b) What does the engine sound like? Obviously not like a V8
c) Would an LPG conversion be viable on one?

From what I've read - not great - hence the lpg bit
