I'm still searching for a 'driving experience' that allows you full access to all the power/performance of the cars you're driving. I've concluded that the Palmersoprt events look like they would be absolutely stunning, but can't quite justify spending £700+ this year on a 'treat' for me, although I could cancel the kids holiday I suppose....

I've also thought about hiring a Caterham, but again that gets expensive, although I think it's good value, also thought about Everyman but I'm not so sure about that one.

Anyway, found a link on the Oulton Park website advertising a Drive a Porsche experience. Opened it up expecting this to be a rev/speed restricted few laps around Oulton/similar. To my suprise you actually get 12 laps in a full race spec Clio Cup car and 8 laps in a track prepared 911. It says you can use all the performance/power of these two cars and better still it's only £180. The events are held at Bedford.

Is this too good to be true, sounds really good value? I don't neccesarily want to spend a whole day so this sounds really good, just want to experience what the performance is really like and then maybe I won't be able to resist a full Palmersport event when I've got a bit more cash that I can squirrel away to spend on myself.

Anyone been on this?

Do you mean these guys:

www.911experience.com/

They had cars at the trackday at Bedford on saturday. Essentially the drivers got to go in one of 3 full on 911s, with tuition on a public trackday. Probably as good an experience as you'll get.

The Porschemaster events are rev unlimited and you are pushed as hard as possible, just as per a standard Palmersport event.

As well as driving the 911's (modified Carrera 2's with uprated suspension, brakes, roll-cage etc) you also drive Clio Cup race cars which are incredibly quick and can out-drag the 911's.

The next Porschemaster day at Bedford is the 10th April I believe.

they are the same clio and porsche used for the JP days at bedford and the same attitude of 'push the driver as hard as they can (or want to go)'.

Really good fun and £ for £ it seems as good as the JP days £180/2 = £90/car whereas JP day is £800ish/8 = £100 per event say (i know the karts/4x4 are not as good)! You probably save on food and tea and coffee and JP staff for this so good value.

My only suggestion is it will be over very quickly and you will not make the most of it because it will all come as a bit of a shock so be prepared to listen form the first minute and push yourself to your limit as early as you can.

Hey, if you go can you check out the "heigt restrictions", ie, do they really take the measure of you (????), as at 5' 1", it seems I always lose out. Have looked at the day myself and it does seem pretty good value. angel
