Been using Thompsons water seal until now but don't think that it's up to much. Moving onto Fabil next and noticed that there's a spray and a paint on application. Which would you recomend ?

Cheers

Personally I would use the paint on version, more controlled in application and penetration..

Ditto... been using Fabsil on my TVRs for 10 years, get a big can pour some into a jam-jar and paint on with a 1 1/2" brush. p.s. Get it in camping shops, it's made by Granger's.

Hmmm ... my tin looks the same except it's white and has a sticker on it called "Fabsil Gold". Bought it from Tiso which is a proper camping store! Is this just a stonger version of Fabsil? Sorry to be a pain but don't want to put it on if it's going to ruin the roof !!

Just to confuse matters, I've used Nikwax cotton proof a water based product for canvas tents and found it to work well (solved the puddle behind the seats problem!). Also being water based it can easily be wiped off body work etc without fear of it doing any damage.

Never used Nikwax but Fabsil also wipes off with a piece of kitchen towel and doesn't mark.

Don't bother with the spray on stuff, best to keep it on the shelf it in your garage or take it back. But the liquid in the tin is excellent, just paint it on.No real technique required and it work very well. And any spills wipe off easily with kitchen paper if you catch them within a few mins.
