The first time I filled up my brand new Cayman, I was on the wrong side of the pump so I pulled it across the bonet and didn't realise the pipe was brushing against my bonet!

I now have hairline scratches across the bonet on my beautiful atlas grey car. Gutted furious

Any suggestions as to how I might polish them away? eek

Thanks

Whereabouts are you? There are quite a few detailers who should be able to help you out. I've heard a lot of good stuff about Miracle Detail www.miracledetail.co.uk

Aggghhhh, I was told never to use T-Cut. You need some paint cleanser or T Cut make a product called safecut which is like T-Cut but kinder to paint. Its a yellow bottle.

Powerful stuff but handled with the most delicate of touch it can be used to good effect.

Actually a wide choice of goo on the market and everyone will have their favourites but the advice is still the same, a cutting compound of sorts and go with the direction of the scratch. If you find it 3M`s finesse it or machine glaze works well. But I still like T-cut

I'd use T Cut on a shitter but I'd be a bit more reluctant to go near a brand new Porker with it...

Blue Bottled T Cut is for Metallic Paint, not as severe as the original Red Bottled gear.

I'd probably try something like Meguiars Scratch X from experience, hard work by hand but a little easier if you have or know someone with a PC. Providing the scratch isn't too deep (ie. you can't feel it with a finger nail running accross it) this should almost certainly bring the paint back to its near original state.

Halfords or most good car product suppliers should have Scratch X.

:snigger: Niceliddleswing of the handbag there kayc.

I agree, though. Had the misfortune to drop a tiny spatter of T-Cut on a car once, and I was a bit tardy in wiping it away - it burned the paintwork.

Absolutely - forgeot that. I still use it the odd time to remove tar from the lupy-undersidey-bubbly-bits that you never see. It's very handy for that.

sorry for this hijack and (mild) rant.

kayc - you're boring in the extreme rolleyes. your persistant dealer bashing and snide remarks at henry make you look (IMO) sad and pathetic - like you have nothing else to do with your life.

or maybe trolling and irritating people is all you have in your life.

maybe you should get a life.

I found it funny too. Is everyone on here supposed to be compliant? I bet even Henry had a small grin at that one.

Another thumbs up for the 3M finesse it, i wouldn't worry too much though, the first tiny marks on a new car always seem a bigger deal than they actually are...no one else will notice.
