OK its an Astra but just read this www.corsasport.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?tid=347865&page=1

superb attention to detail but still I say to myself its a bloody Astra

He said he got the car from Greens and they kept it exactly how he asked so another vote of confidence!

Greens can you please please please spread this type of dealer methodology you have throughout the rest of the UK deaers?

That is clearly nuts. He didn't even drive it before doing all that sh*t to it? Have to agree with the above poster, serious OCD going on here. To each his own and all that, and the car certainly looks stunning, but, er, what a tit!

It'll stay perfectly clean precisely until you drive it somewhere. I just don't see the point really, especially on a nothing-special astra.

I has reminded me that my car is in desperate need of a wash, clay, polish and wax though. How much do I pay for a pro job?

i have heard this a lot about greens

funny first time i have used this statement in a positive way

i havn't heard one bad thing about greens and they take on vauxhall for the customer

after the nighmares with the back end of my monaro for the last 6 months

i think it is finally fixed

the back of the car no longer rocks 5 inches on the handbrake when stationary

and guess what

it now handles like it did when i bought it

i am managing to build my confidence back up

but the wife wont drive it her nerves are still shot from driving it like that

so 250 quid of driver re education on its way so she will drive the car again

when she crashed the XJR it cost 900 quid to build her confidence back up

and vauxhall have brought her back to square one by not fixing the car properly in the first place and arguing with me

i know should have taken it to greens

I intend to do a proper job on mine when I can move house and garage it... until then it'll get the usual '4/5 hour' job that looks okay.

But even when I have the kit I won't go that far (not that I could). Maybe if the £200k Lamborghini I dream about were tucked up - but not on an Astra.

I'd have to disagree in general with previous posts.

"It is only an Astra" - So you guys have never cherished a car that is perhaps not as good as your own? I'll no doubt get shouted down but I have had cars that have cost a mere fraction of an Astra that have been my pride and joy. Don't you think there are people on other forums that say things about the Monaro like "It is only a Vauxhall"? It is horses for courses, not everyone can have the latest hypercar.

As for OCD, I doubt it! Maybe he did pamper it a bit too much but there is nothing wrong with giving a new car a good clean and polish. Some of these cars have been sitting around for a while and have all sorts of imperfections. Why is it so wrong to want to get rid of these when you first get them?

As for the interior, maybe that was taking things a bit too far! Although when I borrowed an Astra VXR that had to be the part I was most disappointed with.

On a car the size of a Monaro about £200. If you want details of a guy who does a lot of this work contact me and I will send a link to his website. He is only In Enfield so not a million miles from you. BTW, your car would look like the Astra does but without all the Bullcensoredt.

couple of guys on here - booster and dan have been known to do the odd clean up job on a monaro. done it myself by hand one day, took 9 hours but the results were stunning, lasted about 20 miles with it being a black car but hey I was chuffed for each of those miles.

Guy with the Astra was a bit OTT but if thats the worst thing he does it wont make him a bad person. Personally if I got the car to that stage I'd be looking to apply one of these "protection" products offered by dealers over the top to seal it in and keep it that way as long as possible.

The thing with a good de-swirling polish and coating in quality wax is yes, it will get dirty quickly again but once it's re-washed it will look so much better than a car that is only washed once or twice a quarter.
What I mean is that you'd be very suprised how quickly paintwork dulls because of ingrained dirt.
The difference has to be seen to be believed.

It also deeply satisfying in achieving a really nice finish on yer car yerself.

Worth noting (well, probably not) that that car is a £20k - and worth more than most of our Monaros!

Cost has nothing to do with it. My 'only an Astra' comment wasn't so much slating the car (I nearly bought one actually) but rather a 'in the big scheme of things' comment. Each to their own - I'll eat my own words when I do it

A lot of time and effort for something that will get dirty the second it hits the road.
(ie) Unless its a vendor showing/selling their wares then its totally ineffective use of money thats much better spent on going faster and burning more petrol....

Each to their own..

Yep, my dad (booster) and I have spent a lot of time on Monaros, here are a couple of pics of BOSS VXR's car which we did:

Started with this:

Then was washed, clayed etc. before we moved onto polishing and waxing

Some of my dad with the porter cable:

And the end result:

I say good on him...... The more time he spends in the garage polishing... means less time worrying my sheep
