Monaro VXR 6.0 test drive. Wow!
Discussion
Test drove a monaro today finally!! and without having to virtually buy the car first, which is what every dealer except nidd vale were forcing me to do. Managed to keep my head and not sign on the dotted line straight after tho whilst wiping the drool from my chin. Think i'll buy one tomorrow. Anyone give me some advice on servicing costs e.g tyres, parts etc. Looking to buy a 2006 in red hot.
Hi mate, be careful what deal they are offering you, Picadors and others are now offering brand new cars at £26K ish so don't get fobbed off paying stupid money. Apart from that the cars are great, you really do need a wortec exhaust and once the modding bug bites you can go pretty much as far as you want, one guy with a 6.0VXR is currently running 710bhp with a twin turbo kit from WRC!

Servicing is cheap, parts aren't particularly, brake disks and pads are expensive for example but you can usually source things cheaper if you don't go via Vauxhall.
Tyres for a VXR (19in) are between £100 and £200 each depending on what brand you go for.
I'd say they are cheaper than any other 400bhp car to maintain but the plentiful modding options will soon cause wallet emptyage.

Thanks guys. Looks like I might be timing this wrong as I can't be without a car but like most cars there's always something coming along that will drive the value down on current models. Plus there's the new road tax prices which lead me towards a pre Mar 26th 2006 which means £200 ish, if!! I can get one. Plus really want red hot, don't want much eh?.
Dealers are offering some extra paint/upholstery protection coating. Anyone know if this is worth £250 ?
God, I just want to go out and buy one..... Never could wait till Christmas to open presents. Urge to empty wallet rising!!.
Plus should have explained earlier. My car is sold and being collected tomorrow.
MY99 Impreza for interest.

There is never a good time to buy a car, as you say there will always be something that will affect the depreciation. Unfortunately we just have to accept it!
As for the £250 this is presumably for the Total Care package. My advice - Don't bother! I had this done and to be honest think it was a complete waste of money. It didn't make the slightest bit of difference to the paintwork and the policy exclusions pretty much cover everything

these top coats applied by dealers usually go straight on top of paintwork thats already covered in swirl marks etc so complete waste of time. if you want that done then get the car detailed first, then go on ebay and buy the fluid yourself for about 20 quid to get much better results.
Yep that stuff is a total waste of time and money, don't do it. Have a look at www.detailingworld.co.uk for some 'proper' advice!
Bloody Network Q salesman, what a waste of my time!!!!. Went down to see him as he said we should talk face to face but when I got there he wouldn't give me a price on the car, a June 2006 Red hot VXR, unless I was ready to put down a deposit there and then. What does it take to buy one these cars!!!!. Thinking of buying a gun instead.
Thanks maverick but definately after red hot.

We have an Red Hot 06 6.0 VXR for sale, PM me for details if of interest.
I got mine from Nidd Vale , they were very helpful.
They got me a couple of new Pirelli's as mine had flat spots.
I said no to the autoglymm treatment.... so they offered it me for £99
you get a bag of autoglymm products as well - I was happy !
I'd go for a pre reg one with a 3 year warranty.
Regards Neil
