Depends what you mean by 'go off road' I assume you don't mean tracks or particularly challenging terrains??
I like these, Sachs X Road, but take the front light unit off and put a different one on it ie. UFO style or something.
Fcuk that mini that you want off and get one of these!
edit - actually if you don't bother with the mini you'll have some spare wedge so get yourself a nice NC29 and a 125 crosser for when you get the urge to 'offroad'

Best to look at Yamaha DT125's, Suzuki DR125, Honda XL125. They'll range from £500 up. Don't hurry the choice though as they are mostly 2-stroke so you do need to check them out. If you can find one in your budget The Suzuki RV125 and Yamaha's TW125 are soft trail bikes so will be ok for the odd off-road sortie.
AND LASTLY DON'T RIDE OFF-ROAD WHERE YOU SHOULD'NT.
It makes life difficult for the rest of us trying to get venues for MX, Enduro and Trials if you P!ss off people.
