Question/Help - Distorted Brake Discs
Discussion
Last year I did a track day - it was at Bedford Autodrome which requires a fair bit of heavy braking which seemed to take its toll as by the end of the session my discs were distorted (vibration through steering wheel under braking).
Forked out on a new set of front discs and pads - problem solved.
After of ~2500 miles of very soft driving (by TVR standards) the offside front has distorted again and the vibrtaion under braking is back.
The car is currently with a TVR main dealer who are going to skim the disc but they can't see anything wrong which could be causing the discs to distort. I want to do another track day but don't want to end up having to skim the discs (or buy new ones) all the time.
Anyone else had anything similar or could perhaps offer any reasons as to why this could be happening??
Lots of thanks in advance.

Fairly common PH question. Your discs have never warped! www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_warped_brakedisk.shtml

That's bloody interesting stuff. So what does everyone do/think about the topping up of brake fluid? And do modern TVRS have brake fluid/pad warning lights anyway?

Very interesting read JR www.stoptech.com
Cheers. Maybe the bedding in procedure should also have been highlighted: www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_bedincontents.shtml

Yes, there's a fluid level warning.
Problem with the topping up theory is that my pads have lasted longer than the need for a fluid change service so I have new fluid topped to the brim.
Come to mention it now.... I've done 26K on the same disks and pads.....
JR, thanks for the link - makes interesting reading.
I had no witness marks on my discs, therefore, sounds like it could have been a case of getting some garnet paper out rather than re-sufacing.
The key to it sounds as if it is proper bedding in - not something the dealer told me about or i doubt is written in the hand book
Cheers again

I've my 18k service next Monday (2nd) so I'll ask at RG what they do about changing the fluid. Think I'll check/top mine up this weekend anyway. And same pads and disks for me too, since new last year.
Also, isn't it the same reservoir for the clutch and brake fluid? Which means it MUST be topped up. More contortionism coming up this weekend.....
