My 996 GT3 is fine there. Is the 997 substantially louder?

being the nice, non selfish type I am I will help out a fellow Porsche geezer and run it up from london for you, see if it gets sent off, then drive it back so you can run up yourself knowing youll be ok.

I know, im all heart.

A number of 996 GT3 drivers had problems there recently. A couple of 997GT3s that I know of have also been on track there and have needed to short shift to avoid tripping the meter

Bedford is very DULL anyway - try somewhere with some character...

Steve, what tracks do you have in mind?

Anyone else having problem with the titanic site?

I've heard of a few 997 GT3 owners having difficulties recently. Check out the Titanic mailing list.

I'm there on April 9th. Can't wait. Used to love it in my old TVR - curious to see so many Porsche owners saying it's boring.

I think Bedford is a great place to explore the limits of your car, if you are new to a car, or if you are new to track days.

Havig gone there for my first full track day, it certainly taught me a lot about how trackdays work, how my car handles on the track, and exactly were the limits of it are. Certainly gave me more confident to go and try other tracks.

Just as well cause you could well either fall asleep at the wheel due to boredom, or get lost.

You WILL get black flagged if you give it full beans past 1 of the 4 Microphones.

I was there last Sat in a 997RS and 2 others in 997GT3's all of us got black flagged, and
spent the rest of the day short shifting past the mics..

2 strikes and you're out !!!

As said, not the most exciting circuit for sure, but very good for anyone
still learning.

Wait for Glenn to come along, he was there last weekend in his....He seemed to have quite an enthusiastic fan club, they kept waving black flags from the sidelines

I was there in mine and have to say, I was happy to do a 1/2 day shakedown of the car...left earlyish and look forward to getting out on a more interesting circuit next time.....it can get a little dull there

I've never found a trackday dull. I've had great fun at Bedford on several occasions. Safe in the knowledge that an off isn't going to be a major expense.

Happy for you.

God knows how you contain yourself at Oulton or Brands GP then.

I take it all are having the sports on when on the track with the 997 gt3's - as the this makes it significantly louder.

All this about bedford being boring - i thinks it bags of laugh
especially knowing that if spin out in a 90k car its all safe apart from your pride though!!!

Guys -

You can still hit things at Bedford... There is a large guard rail down the length of the straight which managed to destroy a TVR last year. There is also a guard rail next to the pits which has claimed a GT2 amongst others.

Not to mention various tyre walls (which will damage you car if you hit them) and the very bumpy (and often soft grass) in the centre which has a habit of pulling off sills and splitters.

The GP circuit is a very fast track and a GT3 will see a 'real' 140mph at down the straight so there is plenty of margin for things to go wrong.

Im not trying to be a kill joy - it is a 'safer' circuit than places like Coombe but don't be fooled into thinking that bedford can't cause you any damage - it can!!

Nope. off........

Lets put boring into perspective....if you don't do many Trackdays, and haven't been to many other
Circuits, then yes, this will be exciting for sure...

After visiting places like Oulton Park, Donnington, Snetterton Cadwell etc...then Bedford
becomes what it is, an Aerodrome.

There are 6-7 Hairpins on the GT Circuit, which just wear out brakes and tyres IMO
with very little reward.

All IMHO of course

Brett - Motorsportvision in June I believe, as is Goldtracks... I plan to be at one of them

Snet is also fun and has a lot of run off in some places (and is cheaper and quieter)
