Hello all - haven't been around for a while but now spring is here and the Cerb has come out of winter hibernation, I decided to bite the bullet and get the outriggers sorted. I knew they probably needed attention and, since the MOT was due, took the car down to my fave west country servicers for the once over.
Ahem, it failed the MOT due to the outriggers (pics below).
Nearsides weren't as bad as the...
...ahem, offsides
I was very happy with the repairs (particularly as access was gained through the footwells - so no body off required)...
...the whole job was turned around in a couple of days (I also had the rest of the chassis cleaned and waxoyled).
So I'm a happy camper and that was the last job on a long list of jobs which I've carried out over the last 12 months to deliver myself a 'sorted' Cerbera
Thanks to the chaps who looked after me and did such a great job. The drive home was, well, 'quick' and I've fallen for the car all over again!!

I've just down some paintwork on mine at the rear inclduing the outriggers which were rusty but not yet compromised.
I have run out of time to do the entire front supension before the season starts (unless I opt for the divorce as well
) but I will defintely have to do the outriggers after seeing yours.
I found an incredible amount of dirt, filth and crud trapped between the body and the outriggers. I would reccommend cleaning it all out even if no remedial paintwork is done. IIRC Steve Heath mentions this in the Griff/Chim bible.
Anyone worked out how to do the tops of the outriggers with the body still in place? I was thinking of using lengths of cloth tape loaded with paint and pulling it around the tubing - with suitable masking on the bodywork.

Did they have to cut out the floor to gain access?
Yes - but it's a marvellous job and you can't see the join!!
Did a deal with the garage - total cost of chassis repair plus clean and waxoyl was £420. Ok so it's money, but there's not a trace of waxoyl on my head or bits of chassis in my eyes and I didn't have the opportunity to blow up my car by igniting the carpets with the welding torch!
Was also (obviously) way cheaper than a body off.

, Keen to see how bad it can get.
