Can someone tell me what Porsche (I guess an Indy could do this too) would charge to enable the feature where the doors automatically lock when setting off in the car and the doors automatically unlock when you pull the key from the ignition. I think its known as anti-hijack.

I had this enabled on my Box S but cannot remember if I had it enabled or it is was already there when I bought that car.

I know VW tried to charge me £60 to get this enabled in the past (its a 1 minute job) eek

Id do it FOC if you are in the north west area/cheshire.

Camtune charged me £31 + VAT for reprogramming to 'anti-hijack' - setting 3.

Arse! smash

Thanks Mike. It is a 996.

I bought the car in Leeds so could have popped over had I asked the question earlier but have now taken the car back home with me to London.

Thanks a lot for the generous offer nonetheless.

Anyone else, further South? Otherwise I might see what JZ Machtech charge, although they are not always the cheapest Indy.

That's not such a bad idea. Bet they will still say: "Sure we can activate that feature for you Sir. It will only cost you £250 + VAT."

I am due to bring my car to an OPC for an inspection in the next week or so anyway, I might mention it to them then and see if they will do it for free, since they will have the laptop connected anyway to read for fault codes. Doubt it somehow though shoot OPC give something away for nothing .... never.

Didn't know you could have this setting in a 911 - anyone know whether it works on a 997? Living and driving around London with my wife in the car I'd be very keen to have this setting.

Thanks for the heads up.

This feature is a pain until you get used to it.
Now that we are both used to it I think it is a great idea.
Problem is the hard top is coming off and so they will just jump in rather than try opening the doors.... oh well; the price one pays.

So will it be a feature on the GT3 too? Will it need re-programming? I'm picking up next Saturday.

I think this is a feature programable on most German cars.

VW, AUDI, Porsche, Seat certainly

Erik - I have this functionality on my 997. I assumed it was standard as it worked when I picked the car up. Perhaps the dealer set it up for me like that.

Checked mine this morning and not set up. I have to manually lock the doors from the inside using the button on the dash. Car due into OPC within the next few weeks (20k service coming up) so will have them adjust coding at same time.

If you have gone for the Sports Chrono pack plus - you can program the doors to lock in a couple of settings... e.g when you pull away - or when you start the engine...

Also you can program daylight running lights and also the intesity of the posistion lighting of the interior.

If you have not specified this option you can get your OPC to set it for you at collection. It is a normally chargable item at a OPC but seeing as you buying the car from them they might do it for free.

nbetts - top tip.

Just read through the owners manual and for cars with Chrono (mine) the settings can be manually adjusted through the PCM - no need for a trip to OPC.

Cheers.
