Anyone playing STALKER?
I've been waiting for this game to come out for a while
About 3 bloody years!
Taken me a while to get into it, but begining to get the hang of it now. Need some better weapons than the MP-5, and got to find another dealer to sell all of the kit I've picked up of people I've shot...
Edited to get the quoting working and to add - just remembered I forgot to pickup an artifact near my last save position. Better go load it up again.
I read a review sating it was like oblivion but as a fps...never played oblivion; just as well - I wouldn't have any time to spare on it now...

Been watching this develop for years and was walking through tesco and spotted it on the shelf - couldn't beleive it finally made it out.
Indeed - very little fanfare for a game with such a long gestation period, that so many people have been waiting for.
Met the first weird ass baddie last night(apart from the giant arse on two legs). Scared me good and proper...until I put a full mag from the AK into it.
Well, after some pretty fraught gameplay (my mail-order "Radiation Pack" copy arrived Thursday) I managed to beat the game late last night. Admittedly, I just blew through the storyline missions without getting distracted by the side quests. However, I understand that these add alot of backstory, cool equipment, plus access to some of the multiple endings.

I have so far found 2 of the 7 supposed endings. Unfortunately, I only had one main savegame which doesn't allow me to go back to where I think the previous branch point is. However, as I'm going to be replaying the game (probably on my new rig when it's finished) I'll be a bit more methodical instead of just ploughing straight through to find out WTF was going on.
All in all, a [k]arl rating of 9/10

PS - fixed my login name to avoid quote-based annoyance (second time it's been commented on recently)

I was planning on going through the main plot, then starting again and doing as many of the side plots as I could be bothered with. By that time, some of the walkthoughts will be available, and I can have a look and see which of the side plots look interesting...
Have you found a way of consolidating ammo yet? Got annoyed carrying 9 Mp-5's for resale, running out of ammo, and having to swap to each in turn to use up the few rounds each had...

If you right-click on the weapon in the inventory screen, a context menu pops up which has an option to "unload" the weapon. You can also use this menu to mount and unmount weapon mods.
